Dyche 'evolution'..
Do you believe it will ever happen?.. Really?..
I think he has his philosophy.. Like it or not.

It’ll take some doing to get him to change his recruitment policy. Experienced, domestic, “good lads” appear to be philosophy.
Style of football I don’t think he has any particular attachment too, much as it may be difficult to believe sometimes.

Re: Dyche 'evolution'..
Maybe, but evolution happens over very long periods of time not over night or in a season. The question is Evolve into what, Man City, Everton?
Some have pointed to Stoke in their desire to play more 'attractive' football they strayed to far from and eventually lost their identity; a direct, physical, hard to beat group, and in doing so doomed themselves.

Re: Dyche 'evolution'..
In 5 years he'll be a struggling championship manager and will then float around tier 2 with some success and some failures. Apart from the exceptional managers like Pep, Fergie, Jose most managers will have as many lows as highs cos management isn't an exact science. The key to success is getting the managers to peak at your club like we did with Mullen, Stan, Coyle and now Dyche.
The trick is knowing when to let them go and how to replace them and that is our big challenge in the next couple of years

Re: Dyche 'evolution'..
Think he's been the best manager in my lifetime and done unbelievable things with Burnley. Ive also seen managers come and go in the blink of an eye and think Seans time with Burnley will be the peak of his career. I think hes reached his peak with us but he has enough about him to make it long term at championship level unlike say Coyle who was a flash in the pan and dropped like a stone since usSpijed wrote:So you don't think much of SD then?

I think key to long term success as a manager is just that.. Evolution.. Not nesesserily style, but knowing when to add/replace players, bringing in the right type and fitting them into a philosophy that they all understand and are comfortable with. I'll never love ol red nose, but he was the master at doing this.

So what makes you think he can't continue at PL level?Devils_Advocate wrote:Think he's been the best manager in my lifetime and done unbelievable things with Burnley. He's achieved 7th position, something that even Eddie Howe hasn't managed to do, nor other managers who are currently working at this level.

Re: Dyche 'evolution'..
There were plenty of signs last season and the first couple of this, that the team was evolving. The possession stats against Saints and Watford show that, but when the results didn't come we've retreated to what he calls the basics, but we cannot recreate it.
There is a kind of sadistic pleasure in not having the ball and get results. Not having the ball and getting hammered is just sadistic.

Re: Dyche 'evolution'..
Athletico and Uruguay are the two obvious models to follow. We need faster strikers and better central midfielders. We need to be feared on the break. We are so pedestrian going forward it really doesn’t matter where we gain possession. However this year one of the big differences is not winning it back in the opposition half.

The trouble I find though is that when you have significant possession, its mostly just keeping the ball in areas that aren't hurting teams.. Its a bit misleading.. Most of the goals are still from set plays or long ball stuff.Colburn_Claret wrote:There were plenty of signs last season and the first couple of this, that the team was evolving.
