I had to look it up mate but having had a read it sounds pretty dreaful. Hope you are not a 'worst case scenario' sufferer?

Likewise, had to look it up and I can only support what houseboy has said and hope it is not worst case.

I know all about MDS.

It does come in varied degrees of seriousness. I truly echo the thoughts of houseboy and CT and hope that yours is one that can be managed by medication.

Bone marrow transplant not really an option 76 years old.
I'm having treatment to slow it's progression.Just have to hope for the best.

Would just like to echo what all fellow Clarets are saying and all the best smudge.
Not sure if it's something you want to talk about but I reckon there's plenty of good folk here who will listen.

Smudge, good luck with your treatment.

Seems you've got the exact opposite of mine - MPN

Have you had many problems with anemia?

One thing I'd also recommend is going to a patient forum when they have them. I go to one every couple of years at Guys hospital. Also, you can get good support on the website health unlocked. It's a good way to speak to other people with the same condition.

Started with being anemic.Had various tests for bowel and stomach cancer.
Finally discovered it was the bone marrow.
Had one blood transfusion due another next week.
The only system at the moment is extreme tiredness.
Will be at the turf this afternoon.

Having treatment at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Doctors and nurses absolutely wonderful.
Until needed don't realise just how great the N.H.S is.
