Walters retired?

Post by andysisson » Fri Mar 22, 2019 3:57 pm

I don’t know if he has fully retired or just from internationals but according to his instagram, he has retired.

A sad way for his career to end really. Even if he managed to get himself fit hard to see who would have taken on a 36 year old who hasn't played for 2 years.

It's a shame, I thought he was a good signing. Stoke fans were gutted to see him go.

I think he'll go into the media because he's been very good from what I've seen.

He has been in the studio for a couple of games lately.

Certainly better than that A-hole Chris Sutton....

Think he'd have been a very good signing if he hadn't got injured at Ewood (which, despite what many say on here, was rare for him). Also loved how he was determined to play on after the injury.

Good luck in whatever you do, Jon (not that you'll read this).

Good luck to him. I could actually see the logic in this signing and he is exactly the sort of player we should still look at no matter how much we evolve.

Has had a great career. Maximised his ability through hard work. Just a shame it didnt work here.

Best of luck to him.

I thought he was a good signing. Such a shame.

Could we name the treatment room after him?

It's ironic that when Walters signed, ClaretsPlayer did a video about him passing his medical. It showed how independent and rigorous the whole thing was.

A shame to see him, with his reputation for being a big presence on the pitch, bow out so quietly to injury. Glad to see the press taking notice, he's done a lot over many years.

I assume we're still supporting his recovery as he's contracted up until June 30th.

C.C. Really. I would have thought he was exactly the opposite of what we should have signed. I though Dyche might have learnt his lesson with Reid. His previous club knew exactly what they were doing. And to finish this post I'm fed of reading "just a shame it didn't work out here", doesn't that tell you something ?

I know it's been done to death on here but even if he stayed fit I don't think he offered us anything that we didn't already have at the club. Put it down to Dyche's flawed obsession with signing British lads who are "good in the dressing room". Seems a decent bloke though so wish him all the best.

Good in the dressing room is an issue??

Have you seen the aggro at places like Chelsea and Leicester where the players get the managers fired...

He's been retired for 2 years, but just didn't bother to tell anyone.

Yes really.

As long as we sign young, talented players with skill and flair I have no issue signing experienced heads.

We got the latter right with Walters, who never had any injury issues in his career until he was taken out at Ewood and never truly recovered.
