I know about personal taste and all that but I can’t understand why anyone these days would pay a ridiculous four notes for a pint of no taste fizz pop, against getting a tasty pint of the real stuff at the Talbot or Rifle Volunteers for about £2.50 inside and in comfort.

That’s very good from spurs.

£4 for an Amstel is reasonable. A fiver for a pint of neck oil is really good for a football ground (you’d pay a minimum £4 for a small can in any city). Beavertown is fantastic beer, regardless of whether they ‘sold out’ to an extent to the big boys.

Can’t see a market for craft beer at the turf. The club will never make they profit they do on carlsberg/Carling/fosters.... all of which are much of a muchness. San Miguel would be cheap for the club to buy in and slightly better than the alternatives.

There's a brewery in there somewhere. It's going to be like Wembley where you can walk around the entire concourse (apart from the away end) so I assume they'll probably have a few decent bars. Thy're another who've recognised that getting the fans in early and keeping them after the match is a good way of making money.

Anyone know what is happening with 'The Kilby Tavern'? It was announced last August and we haven't seen a peep since. Link below for those who may not have heard about it:

I think Star Bars or whoever owns it are having difficulty finding someone with the 66k required as ingoing plus 40k pa rent. If you plan that over a 3 year tenancy, you have to make 62k per year profit just to cover that. Add on the fact it is tied to the Pubco so you will be paying over the odds for their drinks, plus you have to use their legal and financial people for accounts etc. for a pub that doesn't do food in a not very attractive part of a not very affluent Lancashire town, the numbers don't add up. The main income stream of 19 match days per season simply won't cover it. You can make a small fortune out of a pub, providing you start off with a large one.

I wouldn't be surprised if it never opened as a pub again.

Take the point on real ale, but how about a craft option like Spurs are doing? Punk IPA would do, or a local brew?
