Think he'll go 3-2-4-1 if Jay is out.

Almost certainly totally wrong but it's all for a bit of fun.

Muric

Egan-Riley Harwood-Ellis McNally

Roberts Taylor

Cullen

Brownhill Cork

Twine/Bastien

Barnes

N.B. Obviously the full-backs will probably be more defensive tonight.

Sorry my full-backs haven't appeared as I'd intended. :)

You can pretty much guarantee none of these teams will be correct.

Enough of this faffing about, we need a proper 4-4-2 like always -

Muric

Roberts Long Harwood-Ellis Taylor

Brownhill Cullen Cork Bastien

Barnes Tucker

Reckon we'll have the similar team as faced Shrewsbury just with Muric in net. With Twine and THB not getting many preseason minutes I think they may be on the bench.

Muric
Roberts Egan-Riley Thomas Taylor
Cork Cullen
Brownhill Bastien
Barnes Rodriguez

BPF
THB
McNally
Maatsen
Vitinho
Tucker (or AN Other U23)
Twine

I'm going with a 3-5-2 formation that looks something like this -

Muric
McNally Long Harwood-Bellis
Roberts Cullen Taylor
Bastien Brownhill
Twine
Rodriguez

My thinking here is that with our new centre backs being so young, that he will want a more experienced head alongside them, hence my Kev Long suggestion.
I also think that with both Cornet and McNeil gone/going, that we are fairly limited with traditional wingers/attacking wide players, hence the wingback selection. Taylor could easily be swapped for Maatsen.
Finally, with our limited stock of strikers, fit or otherwise, and with Twine being more of a link up type of player, I wonder if Twine may play in the 10 role tonight!?
Anyway, your guesses are all as good as mine quite frankly, and who knows what he will decide which is exciting! Whatever his selection, tonight will be a tough game in my opinion, but whatever the outcome, I think that we must all be careful not to get too carried away either in a negative or positive direction.

Edit - Taylor and Roberts are meant to be in wingback positions.

Really looking forward to seeing all our new players- will we ever have had so many debutants in a competitive first team fixture?!

So we have sold / let go 3 CB , signed 128 young kids to play that position and we put our best LB there 🤔

We did it before with a bloke we signed from Man City if I remember rightly, had a couple of average seasons at LB then got moved to Centre Half and made a name for himself!

So what was the point of signing the 128 kids ?

When the team is announced at the ground will the names be greeted with a Mark & Lard style "WHOOOOOO?" rather than a cheer?

Don’t know anything about Costelloe, always thought Richardson was going to be the ST to make a break through from the youth team

Looking forward to seeing Costelloe for the first time

Looks like Charlie is playing CB - midfield as predicted but looks good

Barnes as battering ram and Twine to come on to seal the game

Are you familiar with the concepts of potential, squad depth, having other options, having different styles of player in the same position? Or do you think we should just have two CBs and that's it.

Dyche never played Taylor centre back because....he never needed to.

Huge problem with JBG and Jay. Both could do well at this level, but yet again not in the squad.

Disgrace cornet isn’t fit.

Sky Sports showing Charlie at CB, sure he will be more of a full back/tuck in center back. With Maatsen as more of a winger/full back when pushed back.

JBG is just too injury prone, really good player but anytime he gets a good run of form going.. bang he's out for months again.
Real shame, but he's definitely a player we can't rely on.
