Re: Clarts vs Derby
That was awful, Derby were poor and we weren’t good enough to break them down. Far too much sideways movement and not quick enough moving the ball around

Did their keeper have to make a save in that second half?

We don’t have a striker that would walk into the top half Championship sides .Flemming was shocking whether he played in his right position or not
Re: Clarts vs Derby
I thought he was dreadful tonight. He had the space on the left but Slow, weak and not a single threatening delivery.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:43 pmHow anyone can think Pires is any good, is is woeful week in week out

Attackers needed is fine but this is selection and tactics. Luca lively but only on for 20. Jay turned our form around but was only on for 30. So, so, so negative. Yet with no reason - this lot should have been taken to the cleaners. We know Leeds, Sheffield and Sunderland would do at home.

How in hell are we 3rd? Absolute garbage up front.
No movement, poor passing, hiding behind defenders. These are all things that can be worked on in training but it never improves. They play like strangers.

Look at the thread about Hannibal after the last game, apparently he's pretty much the worst footballer on the planet.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:43 pmApart from Sarmiento in he first half that performance was rubbish. Need to start with Hannibal in the midfield as look a lot better with him in the team.
Re: Clarts vs Derby
It isn't that. We are so boring to watch and people pay to be entertained. Matches we have played at a higher tempo have been pretty decent to watch even though we struggled to score. This walking football is no good when every man is behind the ball.

Re: Clarts vs Derby
Setting up with the 3 joshs at home to derby is mind blowing . Alex Neil commentating on radio lancs had it right , basic build up that lacks movement , which means that Burnley don’t scare teams. We were really bad tonight .

Re: Clarts vs Derby
These performances are the dullest I've seen watching Burnley since those horrific early Dyche games against Hull/Barnsley etc.
It's enough to put people off watching completely and that's what we are seeing with attendances.
I don't really know what else we can do, Parkers done a good job so sacking him would be stupid. We just don't have the players to create and score goals. We have to spend in January or we don't go up. It's that simple.

And with that attitude the ground will continue to get emptier.

Re: Clarts vs Derby
Instead of playing boring football and hardly scoring from open play in these home games against weak opposition, we should play good football and score some goals. Controversial but true.

No use as an impact sub but it was the two games he started where we recently looked a lot better thanks to his pressing and urgencywillsclarets wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:45 pmLook at the thread about Hannibal after the last game, apparently he's pretty much the worst footballer on the planet.

We need 3 defensive midfielders, no striker and keep it slow as possible, walking pace at best.

We're third in the division so most every side is going to continue coming to Turf Moor hoping for a draw. We need to be more aggressive, adventurous and faster, going forward - like we were in the final ten minutes - if we hope to break them down and win games; opposition teams can't sit back and waste time once they're 1 - 0 down.

Re: Clarts vs Derby
They've already got season ticket holders money. I doubt Derby at home on a Tuesday in December would have attracted many walk ons.burnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:42 pmAt what point does that become an issue to the owners?
Nothing matters more than promotion, but losing fans every week is not good.

You have to of watched a different game if you thought Pires was good tonight, he was awful every time he got the ball. His decision making is terrible.
Re: Clarts vs Derby
If I still lived there I would feel obliged to go with a season ticket so would do, but I refuse to drive 9 hours to be put to sleep.
Re: Clarts vs Derby
Gareth Southgate would have enjoyed that midfield tonight.

Our passing accuracy is around 85% but 95% of that is in our own half the 5% accuracy is in the final 1/3rd .

Koleosho also decided to drop level with the back four. What danger does he expect to cause from there?expoultryboy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:47 pmKoleosho caused a few problems when he first came on , so we started playing down the left to Pires !! Thick as xxxx

He's Southgate 2.0. Hope I end up wrong but play offs will be the best outcome with such a cowardly approach. I'm surprised we haven't been beaten 1-0 in one of these games yet. Bound to happen sooner or later.

Frustrating. Think we played some good football at times. Thought Trafford had a good game, and sarmiento.
Flemming must not be fit. Don't think he touched the ball once. Certainly didn't make any effort to get near the ball.
I don't usually single players out but jeez that's the worst performance I've seen from a Burnley player in years

I think with better forward players we win that quite convincingly.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:48 pmWe're third in the division so most every side is going to continue coming to Turf Moor hoping for a draw. We have a ton of final third entries and touches in the opposition box. Only Sarmiento and Jay when he came on looked like creating anything.
Re: Clarts vs Derby
We have been saying all season we need to be faster, up the tempo, but it only happens when we are chasing a win or are losing. We will keep having these boring 0-0 draws if we play at this tempo with every man behind the ball. We don't move them round. I bet this is the easiest game Derby have played all season.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:48 pmWe're third in the division so most every side is going to continue coming to Turf Moor hoping for a draw. Re: Clarts vs Derby
Does anyone really want to go straight back to the PL with these current players?
Re: Clarts vs Derby
Biggest puzzle was how Anthony lasted 80 minutes. He should have been hooked at half time. What a frustrating player he is.

Re: Clarts vs Derby
The way we played at Stoke was great. The formation we played tonight, you play away from home. No problem, it's perfect. But at home, when teams sit in, we have to take the game to them. Houtondji will at least run the channels. Play Jay or Flemming in behind him. We allow poor teams to sit in a four and defend their box, and it's too easy. We are not a bad side, I really believe that. And we've shown it. But in front of our fans, we need to have a go.

Re: Clarts vs Derby
That is a really **** result.
Can't fault Parker, all that possession, all those chances, it's the players to blame. I said a couple of months ago, I feared we'd be better away from home because there is less pressure and expectation on the players. The main difference between Leeds, Sheff Utd and us is confidence. You can't coach that.
The sad thing is we'd looked like we were turning the corner. The performances have improved, but the final third is as bad as ever.

Just been watching the last few minutes of the Leeds game
Our team needs to look at a recording to see how they attack when most sides would be sitting on a 2-1 lead with 6 minutes to go

Re: Clarts vs Derby
Let’s try buying a blood and guts no 9 and start launching a few diagonal crosses into the box ,because if media darlings Arsenal are the best thing since sliced bread scoring off corners why can’t we play a bit more direct as an option to break teams down.AfloatinClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 9:48 pmWe're third in the division so most every side is going to continue coming to Turf Moor hoping for a draw. Re: Clarts vs Derby
I hope people on here don’t think is a criticism but that was ferkin sh!te. That starting eleven we put out was lethargic without any fight whatsoever. Parker has to take the blame for that first seventy minutes. We improved when Jay and Koleosho came on but apart from Sarmiento our attacking play was garbage. Anthony is possibly the laziest and timid player I’ve seen in a long while from a Burnley player. Derby were extremely poor and we didn’t have a clue how to break them down.

SP got it wrong with the line-up and tactics. Simple as.
