I looked into this 'incident', and my word. He went on a verbally expletive rant to a local reporter. I've heard the recording and no wonder it contributed to his sacking, it was very unprofessional. He sounded a bit unhinged.

It didn't really need looking into and I didn't think it was appropriate to refer to it in full detail. From what I was told he'd just had enough of the bloke so gave it him both barrels. That's nothing like the Michael Jolley I knew, that's for sure.

I remember reading about that incident at the time. It sounded like a man who had just cracked under the pressure. 20 years ago it was totally normal for managers to behave like that, Stan Ternent for one, but these days they have to be adept at keeping their counsel in situations like that as social media means it soon gets around. Looks like Holloway didn't fare too much better at Grimsby, either.

The reporter deserved everything he got, in most other walks of life, it would have been sorted out in a different way.

Barrow's return to the league hasn't gone as well as they would have hoped, they're perilous close to the relegation zone, and since Ian Evatt's departure they have been in somewhat of a mess.

Apparently they signed one of our released youngsters in September, a defender by the name of Scott Wilson, hometown boy who'd been with us since 2013, good luck to the lad in his professional career.

As for Jolley he's got a job on his hands just keeping Barrow in the league, after a bright start they've really struggled in the last couple of months, and I guess that's why Dunn got the push.

He signed for them on 4th September (as per link) but I'm not quite sure it is right to refer to him as a home town boy unless your local team plays in blue and white halves.

No Dunn's appointment always seemed strange to me, as it did to many others on this board, and his short-lived tenure proved us all correct.

Ah! so Wilson has a Rovers connection does he, I guess that makes sense with Dunn signing him, I was just getting my info from the BBC article so blame them

Anything which helps us get young players out on loan, and playing competitive league football is too be welcomed by me. It's fine plying their trade in the under 23 scene, but nothing beats getting some experience in the league ladder, no matter what level they are playing at, obviously the higher the better from a BFC POV, but even getting games in League 2 alongside seasoned pro's will do their development no harm.
