Do we know why he has joined up with the u23s when he is the same age as our first year u18s ?

Presume the club feel he can play at that level and/or it will be better for his development.

To have already played first team football with York, he must have something about him, he already has experience with playing with and against players a lot older and stronger than himself.

I was expecting him to join the u18 group but he's obviously at a level where it will benefit him to step up. I know they were a year older but both Oliver Younger and Dwight McNeil did similar last season.

He's probably just read about what a shambles the club is on this messageboard.

This matters to me:

“I am so thankful to everyone at York City, Dave Penney, the players, Buster and especially Martin Gray who believed in me when others didn’t. He signed me at Darlington and then York and gave me my first team debut at 16. I will be forever grateful to him. I really hope that a great group of lads and a fantastic football club can get promoted this season as they deserve it and so do the fans."

The lad shows respect and gratitude.

I hope nobody outside the Club reads or takes seriously some of the utter and complete pimply sh1te that is strewn across this Messageboard at times. It would be embarrassing to be associated to such wilful wrong-headedness.

Picked up on that, reading his comments.
Very good words from someone who presumably, hasn't had "Press Lessons" yet.

Sounds like his ex manager isn't too happy about how the deal to sign this lad was done.

It's nice to know we also like to do things underhand, albeit legal, if it benefits us, yet we'll cry our tits off on here when Trippier goes for sod all etc.

“Now it’s time for a new adventure and my target is to be involved with the first team at Burnley as soon as possible."

Sounds confident so we will have to see if he fulfils his promise with us, interesting signing.

I'll almost guarantee he'll be on the release list in 3 years time, just statistically speaking.

I know what your saying but we must strike gold at some point, and the fact that several other Premier clubs were also looking at him hopefully could mean its with this fella who will come good.

His ex-manager has been around the game long enough to know that all clubs will do what is necessary to induce a talented young player to join them, whether it is inducements the family or to the player himself, it has gone on for many, many years.
Interesting that he is saying that when the lad had been brought from Darlington in what appear to be similar circumstances.

Anyway, he is with us now so good luck Vinnie, let's hope that everything works out for you if you work hard at it.

I work in York, spoke with a couple of lads who watch York regular, both say this lad is quality.

Welcome to Burnley you'll do for me :)

“Now it’s time for a new adventure and my target is to be involved with the first team at Burnley as soon as possible. I had lots of options of clubs to join in the Premier League and the Championship but I chose Burnley as I know that if I work hard and improve every day that I’ll be given my chance here.”
There would be a lot more promising youngsters who would join us if this was true but it's really pushing it saying players in similar positions to him have done anything at Burnley.

Unless by involved he means training with them sometimes in a pre season before being shipped out on loan indefinitely.

Maybe this young lad has more natural talent than other young 'uns that have been with us in the past and if he works hard enough he may just be the one that makes it
