Russia Invades
Re: Russia Invades
Very interesting thread on the 'Z' symbol seen marked on Russian vehicles. I thought it was just for identification purposes, but it turns out it's part of a wider propaganda campaign designed to muster support in Russia for the not-a-war war. According to the thread the campaign isn't working very well.

I see Twitter have missed the return of MFA Russian propaganda. A human shield or students gobbling off because a TV camera is pointing at them, who don’t look particularly threatened? You decide.

His election campaign vowed to end use of fissile fuels - he’s been wrestling against Republican pressure - since OPEC refused to up production he needs new Oil fields and hence the EXXON deal today; which we can assume is just the first - but they will take time to get up and running. He trying to reach a balance to minimise the impact, much like Europe - but I expect it to happen soon.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 11:41 pmSo both sides of the political divide in the US have agreed on not buying Russian oil from now on.

I am big on green energy, but this turns it all on its head.
Just maybe this gets people to wake up.
Short term we go back to coal, other oil places etc. but perhaps it wakes people up to move faster to renewables .
If we had massive wind farms giving us our energy, No country could just turn it off, well as long as they cannot stop the wind blowing that is. Or with solar, stopping the sun shining.

Ukrainian UAV (drone) photographing artillery strikes on Russian supply trucks
Clearly a huge target for the Ukrainians, and the damage being done to the Russian ability to move and fight is very significant
Thing is, only the military analysts at NATO will know how close the Russian supply system is to being incapable of supplying an advance (I think they will always have enough to maintain a defensive posture)

Just to remind people what a bunch of lying toads the Russians are and how impossible they will be to deal with in trying to end this war as they live in some kind of alternate reality.
Remember the statement at the outbreak of the "Special Military Operation"?
- The Russian Defense Ministry has said that its forces are not attacking cities, key military infrastructures being its main targets. The civilian population is not at risk, the Defense Ministry said.

An Eastern European TV station - I don't know much more than that to be honest, but most of their stuff is taken from feeds from within Ukraine
There has to be some scepticism, but compared to the stuff being pumped out by the pro-Russia analysts and media its better
I can't stress this enough, there are accounts out there that are claiming to be independent verifications of the war and they are essentially just Russian propaganda machines

Beginning of panic buying in Russian supermarkets
The huge difference I think between what happened in the West during the pandemic is that we all knew the food was there, it was just getting it to the supermarkets. In Russia, they won't be thinking that.

More alternative reality from the Russians… they want to return to ‘peaceful co-existence’ with America, like they had in the Cold War… (where for younger viewers America and Russia fought each other in under developed countries around the world from the 1950’s - 1980’s and created much of the ill feeling and divided cultures we see today.)

Yeah, the letter "Z" is now the letter the Russians were using, but at the start they used "V" and "U" as well

Re: Russia Invades
It was likely that reaction to Saudi Money (after Newcastle takeover) sloshing around London is what led to the tightening up against ‘dirty money’ that played an unexpected part in tipping Putin over the edge. Syria has been left alone because of their very close relationship to the Kremlin (I expect that to change). Yemen tbh I don’t know enough about to comment sensibly. But the Palestine/ Isreal conflict is a can of worms that I am unwilling to adjudicate. It is an on going problem, that no one expected when the states were first set up - Palestinians arrived from Jordan, Isreal became a recognised state… really no one belongs there.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 11:45 amThis would be more than reasonable but maybe we should also be including; Saudi Arabia in Yemen, Syria in Syria, Israel against Palestians.
