Re: ARTICLE: Clarets launch off Premier League Cup campaign
Hi CT, "Kick off" yes, but "launch off" is a little puzzling, at least for me. "Launch" maybe does it?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:21 pmSheffield United away tonight at Chesterfield

I’m not sure where the additional word came from but I’ve told it to **** off and corrected it.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets launch Premier League Cup campaign
Thanks for the line up CT but one player missing, is Glennon at left back?
Are Richardson, Thompson and Mancini all out injured?

I’ve added Glennon. Richardson is injured and I suspect Mancini could be but Thompson is on the bench.Malvern claret wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 7:51 pmThanks for the line up CT but one player missing, is Glennon at left back?

I’ve not seen too much of Bobby Thomas but whenever I have, he looks quality.
Tucker shows flashes of real ability too.

Helm denied a goal of the season contender by the woodwork

3-0 Thompson with a tap in from a great cross by Armstrong on the left touchline. Not sure if McGlynn got a flick on the cross or not.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets launch Premier League Cup campaign
This was a hard fought win with all the team working hard for each other and deservedly coming out on top.
Since we needlessly lost at Newcastle at the end of August the team has gone 6 games without defeat. Well done to all concerned.
Helm looks a good player and there are several others who make you pay attention to what they are doing. Keep it lads!

Watched the first half.
We really got going around the half-way stage.
Great cross for the first and a terrific free-kick from Tucker for the second, which Helm won with a very good run.
Some good performances, wish I could have seen it all.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets launch Premier League Cup campaign
It was good to watch this and see how our lads were clearly just a level above these. When we're mid-table in PL2 Division 2 sometimes, I think, you lose sight of the level of that competition. The difference between our PL2 side and Sheffield United's PDL was there to see and whilst they had their moments we always looked in control and like we had another gear.
Tucker impressed me last night, I'd written him off a little last season as he didn't look to be at the same level as some of our other players but I was clearly too hasty (and I always thought he was older than he is) as he's really pushed on this season. Some of his close control and play under pressure was great to watch and obviously he's showing some quality as a freekick taker. I'd been surprised that Helm wasn't taking freekicks this season as he was Manchester United's U23 set piece specialist but clearly Tucker has the ability.
