We looked absolutely knackered tonight - at least there are no midweeks coming up in the next few weeks and then in March we go three weeks between games because of the Leicester game and the international break.

In total agreement with Sean and CT here. I read a lot of comments regarding what players ought to be able to achieve physically on here but the current situation we face is cumulative and with around 20 mins. left some of the players were 'treading water'. The reasons for this have been well documented but around 60 hours to the next game I'm concerned about who will be genuinely available come Saturday. A very good point for us.

We could do with a few players going out breaking the rules, cry covid and get a nice couple of weeks break, it seems to have worked wonders for a couple of teams....

It's really hard work at the moment with how quickly all the games are coming.
Especially clubs with small squads. And there aren't any other clubs with less options than ours in this league.

Totally agree.

Very tough season for us generally, having lost players last summer, a full season recruitment freeze, a small squad, a far more congested fixture list. Just survive this one and regroup in summer. In that sense, last nights result was all that we needed and could have been a lot worse had we not scored immediately after their poor goal.

Yep, definitely vary annoying. Suspect it would have been a very different result at that time. We limited the damage though.

I honestly can't see how any Burnley fan would prefer an FA Cup win over staying in the PL, which could send us back to permanent obscurity. PL status is key to the future development of the club.

SD has to deal with the fit players he has available and last night for the last 15 mins we were running on empty. We didn't have an out ball and one of my big grumbles with SD is why he didn't bring on Joel. He's big and fast and would have chased down the out ball and kept the Fulham defence honest in that last period of the game plus he could have rested either Jay or Ash who looked knackered.

Think your missing the point.

A lot of fans are not particularly bothered about being a premier league club. So the chance of getting to a quarter final or potentially further is a much more exciting prospect than just surviving.

Each to there own I guess.

Fair point Capt., but one consideration might have been that Sean had already used up two subs covering injured players and if he brought on Mumbongo and then the team copped another injury, they could have been down to ten men for the last 15/20 minutes.

But you are making a large leap with that statement. It is not a given that we would be relegated if we played a competitive eleven in the cup matches.

Can I just point out that in three matches against sides who are supposed to play better football than us - Brighton, Leeds & Fulham there has only been one team who has played the football during those games and it wasn't our opponents.

But we never dominate possession, so we spend more time chasing the ball. And we still knock a lot of balls long, whether you want to accept that is entirely your choice.

Reading what Scott Parker said this statement stood out for me ".........The ball was out of play a lot, there were a lot of fouls, a lot of stop start....."

A lot of fouls --true, except that there were not a lot of fouls when compared to Fulham's other PL matches this season. In only 6 of their 24 games have there been less fouls this season and in only three of those did Fulham commit less fouls than their opponents.
On Wednesday they committed 13 fouls and we committed 7, so why is he moaning?
In their PL games this season they are averaging 12.8 fouls per game, their opponents average 9.9. They are also second in the table for cautions with 45 yellows abd joint second in dismissals with 3 red.
We get a lot of criticism for being physical etc., however, we have had 31 cautions and 0 dismissals, although Brady seemed to be trying hard at one point last night!

I think some of the training sessions that season consisted of a bit of stretching and a little kick about.
