I don't think anyone is suggesting we buy Gray.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We know. He was suggesting we need a player like Gray was back then. Problem is he wasn't particularly good at PL level.

2020/2021
Burnley

2019/2020
Burnley
36 (16) 8
2017/2018
West Brom

2016/2017

You suggested Gray had scored double figures in the PL. He hasn't.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Olympique Lyonnais started their season by conceding a first draw on Saturday at home against Stade Brestois (1-1). A disappointing meeting for Peter Bosz's men who still have to perfect their automatisms and find the right settings. The Dutch coach also had to do without the services of Maxwel Cornet, injured. The player is nonetheless interested in the Premier League.
And it is especially Burnley who keeps the Lyonnais in his sights. The Lancashire club have been keen to recruit Cornet for a few weeks now, not least because he is failing to attract his number one target, Ademola Lookman. To forget the side of RB Leipzig, the Clarets want to extend € 20 million to afford the Lyonnais. According to the Sun, the offer could be made this week.
A few days ago, Burnley made an initial offer for around € 10 million. Jean-Michel Aulas had quickly refused, considering him far from his demands.

€20m is just under £17m . Which is just a bit more than our record transfer.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Seems that there are conflicting media reports about Cornet. A couple of days ago it was reported that Hertha Berlin had offered 8m Euros and OL were looking at 10m. Now it seems that the asking price has shot up to 20m. Also it is now reported that "The player is nonetheless interested in the Premier League." whereas before it was said that he is more keen on joining the German side.

Good info CAJ, Cornet is injured is he, aye right course he is, I don't know much about this guy, but if we're prepared to break our transfer record we must really rate him.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 3:34 pmOlympique Lyonnais started their season by conceding a first draw on Saturday at home against Stade Brestois (1-1). Yes I've mentioned him on other threads, and I'm not the only poster, for what we're apparently spending on Cornet, we might be able to pick up Christie and Wallace combined. and those 2 joining would turn a distinctly average window into a pretty good one.

Not with just five caps for the u-17s back in 2015 (according to Wikipedia).Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 5:18 pmIs it not possible due to his stint with the youth national teams
Apparently the new work permit rules value Copa Libertadores/Copa Sudemerica appearances highly so maybe that makes it possible.

Unless Twitter translate is well out, it would be fair to say that he’s more Dane Richards than Neymar in the eyes of fans in Brazil. They seem pretty astounded by the news.

Well, just when the sun seems to come out, along comes another rain cloud…
I’m pretty sure if we didn’t think we could improve him and benefit from him being here then we would not be paying such a fee to bring him to Burnley.

Seriously, can anyone actually see this lad getting any sort of game time for us? Dyche was skeptical of Vydra for long enough. There’s no chance, in my opinion.

Well at least he can't be any worse than Joelinton, and at a fraction of the cost.

He can and in fact he is likely to be much worse than Joelinton however he can manage just 50% of the stars for us that Joelinton has managed at Newcastle he will be doing something right and likely be a bargain at the priced we are meant to be paying
