That has been exactly my thoughts when watching the videos. One comment said he couldn’t put one foot in front of the other in Ligue 1 - would love to see some of the players they really rate!

Either way, he’s got one thing we badly lack - pace.

Fully accepted I wasn’t aware I was disputing that I was merely questioning why some of the Lyon fans have a lowly opinion of him that’s all, nothing more & nothing less, of course he can play & he is better than we’ve got for sure in that department.

Lyon typically play in the champions league and typically have a much better team than us. Probably some of their worse players will be good for us.. a bit like it we sign a player from a top 6 side in the premier league.

The other thing to consider is fans aren't the best judge can be pretty bitter about a player moving. I remember when we signed Ings we had a Bournemouth fan come on the forum to tell us he was crap.

I'm sure if he's a target then he meets are the credentials we look for. Only problem may be convincing him to come, and fitting him in. We don't exactly have players that you'd expect would make him feel at home but you have to start somewhere.

He’s seems to have been shunted around between wings and FB. Possibly they’ve not recognised the best of him?

I’m not sure I don’t really know enough about him, I hope we pull it off & he signs but I’ll echo doubts like other posters have done about whether he’ll come, i just hope we have some sort of a contingency planned in that event instead of putting all our eggs in 1 basket with this rumoured target.

Its only last season he was playing left back. He's predominantly an inverted right winger like Gudmundsson. Presumingly he wants to play there rather than left back so he's the perfect fit to replace Gudmundsson when he's injured.

If the fee can be agreed with Lyon.
Burnley will have sussed out all the other stuff … like wages … bonus .. etc. With players agent before hand.

Cornet looks like a real player and would definitely add something exciting (in theory) but I'm concerned we're not his preferred choice and it's all being dragged out and we're doing a lot of courting and persuading and that if he did come it would ultimately be rather reluctantly. That doesn't seem like the best footing to start on imo and has the potential to all unravel by Christmas, but we'll see.

I think it will be Lennon. Still though I'd be more then happy two players to each position will be much less of a worry. That is until Gudmundsson gets injured before the Africa cup of nations :p

Agree with this. What a great stage to come and showcase your talents. If we end up selling to a bigger club for £40-50m then that’s a win win situation surely.

Alan Nixon has just said it’s all about money really. So if we offer him a bigger salary he will come. As you say, surely we knew all this before submitting an offer to Lyon.

Andy Jones (our Athletic reporter) now saying we have bid £13.5m and now we have permission to talk to Cornet with talks being held this weekend. ‘Now having permission’ surely means the bid was accepted? Goes against what Nixon has said but we will see.
