Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Still think the fact we had no one within twenty yards of the half way line is the main reason
Vydra was bought on to change that, and it didn't work
Just like bringing Barnes on the Brighton game didn't work
Sometimes stuff doesn't work

Exactly!Culmclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:55 amIt’s easy with hindsight but putting Pieters on instead of Vydra and giving Dwight a freer role would have given Leeds a lot more to think about.

If you read about Salah’s path after Chelsea and how they plotted his movement based on the playing style of the clubs that could afford him you’ll have spent a good 10 minutes being fascinated!clarethomer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:54 amJust some food for thought.
We have heard and read a lot about the use of data for helping clubs spot players etc.
I also remember that there was a story about how Memphis Depay’s agent used the same analysis and data to find a club for him following his career not progressing well at United.
It could be that this decision is one which is right for the player. Yes it’s disappointing for us and for some fans but you want the club and player to be on the same page. If they are not- I’m pleased it has allowed us to move on.

I don’t think Arsenal can afford to let him go, I think they’ll have to appear to be firm with him as to stop the rot that’s infecting the wiser club.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:57 amAMN update

Can’t have players on social media dictating their situation. That being said, I would love him at TM.

So we just ignore all the excellent defensive work he has been doing in those very same games?
Also, to be fair one was a slip, that is just very unfortunate.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I tend to agree. In both games Dwight was back but ineffective in his protection of Taylor. At one point for Leeds’ goal he actually ran beyond Raphinha without getting a tackle in & he checked inside easily. Taylor then fluffed his tackle. To be fair though, even after those situations, we were unlucky with the deflections, etc.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:52 amNot responsible. Dyche should have shored up our left side. We have Pieters. We’re ahead (twice) you bring Dwight off and support Taylor (ps both the other managers put fresh legs on against him) with Pieters. Dyche just does plug and play subs, never reacts to the other coaches moves.
Do think that there would be some sense in putting Pieters at LB, Taylor LW & Dwight as 10 when in similar positions in future, but that’s for another thread.
Lowton has been perfect defensively and I think that’s all you can ask. Roberts will have a job getting ahead of him, I suspect.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
That's how it goes, similar with being a goalkeeper, you can make 2 incredible saves and then make a howler and cost your side the points. There's no doubt Taylor is a very good left back, we've all seen it numerous times, he's definitely not at his best at the minute though.burnleymik wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 10:02 amSo we just ignore all the excellent defensive work he has been doing in those very same games?

Hats off to Mr Pace. He seems to to be ramming the abuse from the nay sayers back down their throats. He’s starting to show he meant what he said about growing the club, let’s hope he’s done enough to convince SD to sign a long contract.

James is a better player than Traore and half the price! They're dreaming if they think they'll get that or anywhere near it. His end product is woeful.

We seem to have done quite a bit of that over the summer and am hopeful that within a year or two we might possibly have an exciting team on our hands and at worst, have a little more strength in depth.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 10:06 amHe’s a long way from ready IMO. Nixon reckons we are looking at another option for a number 10 now that Christie is out of the picture. Maybe there’s a surprise waiting in the wings?

Think Roberts will be it
Very unlikely we will be able to get someone in at this late stage
Still, thats way better than it looked a couple of weeks ago

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
He is a very important and talented Scottish international. Game time is important for the world Cup. That is why Bournemouth would be favoured.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 7:35 amYeah, same
But it would have given us some more cover, and would have been another one who brought the average age of the squad down
But if Parker has promised him game time, and he struggles, then that is going to bite both of them

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Pieters for Dwight, against Brighton was a no brainer. It was obvious Dwight was tiring, and it was obvious that Charlie couldn't do it all on his own. I thought he had a great game, just left with too much on his shoulders. The slip against Leeds was just one of those things.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We have had a great window and a definite shift on what has been done previously, you only have to read the first page of this thread to see how far we have exceeded most peoples expectations. I do have a bit of a shiver when thinking how we afford it, but similar clubs seem to cope ok. impending thoughts of potential relegation have gone and a sense of increasing optimism following playing well in the last 3 games and a lot better start than the previous season (although not on the table), coupled with some great signings and potential of even more to come and possibly the evolution and rebuild of our squad and how we play. If this make me a happy clapper then so be it, its great to be a Claret UTC NNN COYC.

Powder puff midfield !Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 9:50 amRe Charlie Taylor "responsible for goals "
The lack of tackling and tight marking by our powder puff midfield caused the issues
We failed to cut out the passes prior to it getting near our defence
Our dropping back Howestyle and playing for a draw also didn't help.
On Saturday our lhs midfield was AWOL for the equaliser and Charlie's slip unfortunate
Get your tin hat on
Dyche clearly happy with our cm four, including Stephens

As for dropping back and playing for a draw being Howestyle, we have been playing this way pretty much ever since Dyche came in
Just that now, the powder puff midfield can't offer the cover/support from a couple of years ago

I wonder if Phil Bardsley will move this window, to get some end of career playing time?
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Top signing this, good age, international experience and cheap going by today’s market standards. Exactly the kind of business we should be doing.IanMcL wrote: ↑Tue Aug 31, 2021 10:40 amhttps://www.footballinsider247.com/medi ... a-sources/

Barkley behind Wood would be great, he was excellent for Villa last year until he got a bad injury and never returned to form.

Brighton sign Cucurella from Getafe
That will no doubt be a different Cucurella who in no way will he be signing for either Burnley or Brighton

You could logically argue we’ve only signed 1 player anyway with Collins swapped for Gibson & Hennessy for BPF that leaves cornet, I’m not mentioning AL for obvious reasons.
