Cornet & Roberts
When do people think we'll see them both in the starting line-up?

I think we will see them off the bench soon enough but I think we’ll have to wait for a cup game or injury to see them start. Although an injury to JBG is never far away.

Re: Cornet & Roberts
Dyches article on Defour was very interesting.
Rather than Dyche fit, read team fit. A players needs to settle into the psyche of how the team plays, before he gets to start. I should think it will be easier for Roberts than Max, but I can understand the rationale behind it.
I expect Cornet will feature regularly from the bench before then.
The playing without the ball, is the same as Atletico under Simeone, they haven't done too badly.

Re: Cornet & Roberts
I'd hope Cornet would at least make the bench at Goodison. Whether he'll get on is another matter entirely, might well depend how the match is going.
Roberts is still recovering from an injury isn't he, so we may have to wait a few weeks before we see him featuring.
The positive aspect is we at long last will have viable options for the starting XI, and also the subs, both of which we've been severely lacking for a couple of seasons now.

You spend money like that on an international you bang him in from the off

Re: Cornet & Roberts
Dyche has hinted not and I'd be amazed if we saw him play at Everton. Roberts would have been closer to being ready but he's recovering from surgery although was getting close to a recall at Swansea.

Surely he (Cornet) makes the bench for Everton seen as we are now allowed 9.

I’d imagine all things well Cornet will get on sometime during the Everton game. Presuming Roberts a little longer depending on fitness ,be nice to see them both play vs Rochdale

Re: Cornet & Roberts
Roberts is injured so not till October time at the earliest, probably November. Depends if Lowton is still in form i guess.
Integrating players quickly is certainly becoming an achilles heel for Dyche and changing our style to a more attractive brand of football, hoping we evolve quickly on both of those issues this season.

Would you expect him to be in the squad for the Everton game or more likely Arsenal?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 1:34 pmDyche has hinted not and I'd be amazed if we saw him play at Everton. Does Cornet need to self-isolate?
I can't see Roberts starting until Lowton either has a howler or gets a knock.

Main reason I've bought my ticket is I'm hoping to get a good look at them, plus, hopefully, Gomez-Mancini, Richardson etc.

Probably November? He's in training, ' on the grass' as Dyche says. Why not leave it till next season for him to be fully integrated?Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 1:46 pmRoberts is injured so not till October time at the earliest, probably November. Re: Cornet & Roberts
Think they will be eased in gradually and off the bench but I expect both will be starters before too long. Cornet won’t be content to sit in the bench. Could be a good attacking threat down the right again along with formation options now. Think both are very good signings.

Re: Cornet & Roberts
Cornet will only need to quarantine if he has not been double vaccinated due to coming back from Ivory Coast which is an amber list country.
I cannot see him involved at all against Everton, maybe after 10 days or so training and settling in he could make the bench for Arsenal but Roberts won't be until Rochdale at least.

Agree. I think we might see him play at RW given his key passes stats and to bed him in, but those long throws will be really helpful. The Enclosure wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 7:38 pmThink Roberts long throws will be a big asset for us .

I’m guessing SD will give a real time update on Roberts injury at the presser ? I’m seeing him more as a wingback in the Taylor mode for us

Like Gibson? Who was almost an international but cost a lot.

Re: Cornet & Roberts
I think Dyche finds it easier to introduce wingers straight into the team compared with defenders, where mistakes are usually far more costly. There will also be so much more tactical knowledge required to play there as part of that unit (i.e, knowing when to leave for Pope, when to step up and so on). That's on top of the fact Gibson had to get in front of arguably our two best players in Mee and Tarkowski. With respect to JBG, we have been needing a new option in that position for a couple of years at least now.
If I am not mistaken Brady made one sub appearance after signing for us then started against Chelsea. I predict the same with Cornet - sub at Everton, starts against Arsenal.

Re: Cornet & Roberts
That’s a good point. Our wingers aren’t required to do too much extra defensively than most clubs. The thing with cornet though is what dyche has mentioned - he’ll need to settle into a new country and area so priorities at first will be sorting a house rather than throwing him into the first team.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:08 amI think Dyche finds it easier to introduce wingers straight into the team compared with defenders, where mistakes are usually far more costly. Re: Cornet & Roberts
Depends where Cornet will sit on the Dyche scale. If he's bottom ladder like Vydra and Gibson he won't get a chance until Lennon and Gudmundsson are both injured. If he's top step like Wood he'll be straight into the team.
We're so short of wingers though I can't say it will take long, even if it does require two injuries.

Not nonsense at all. If you can't see the players our manager prefers over others then there's no hope.. Utter nonsensical reply as usual.

Would you like to have a wager that Cornet doesn't have to wait for injuries before getting a chance more than happy for you to set the amount.

Maxwel has posted a picture of a plane window on Instagram that looks to be over some green fields. So I guess he’s just arrived in the uk. Highly unlikely he’ll feature vs Everton if he’s arriving today.

Not sure about Roberts because of his groin injury, but I think the Rochdale game might be Cornet's first game. All the more reason to attend the cup game.

Will Cornet be risked in the Rochdale game ? We don’t want him hacked down like Lincoln did with JBG. I hope he doesn’t play in that game.
Re: Cornet & Roberts
From the Press Conference:
Burnley boss Sean Dyche on new signing Maxwel Cornet:
"Maxwell is on his way in. We'll check his fitness out and see how he's feeling. He had a bit of a dead leg but it's nothing serious."
Burnley boss Sean Dyche on new signing Cornet:
"We've got a different-minded board now, more open-minded. We want players to come in wherever they come from. Can players settle here and get used to life here? If life is settled off the pitch then they settle well on the pitch. It's a different process coming up here."
