Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
"Legend" is often a word that is used lazily and without meaning. Not in this case. This man is one of the reasons my Dad first took me to the Turf.
Thank you and God bless, Jimmy.

RIP Jimmy. Scorer of so many goals including our Cup Final equaliser. How he never won an England cap is unfathomable. Condolences to family and friends.

RIP Jim. Chatted to him on a few occasions, such a fine man, and played five a side against him, he was imperious.
My first season was 59-60, and among other goals I saw his five v Forest in that 8-0 win, and of course the 100th FA Cup final goal

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
so very sad!
a few years back used to see him attending games at Turf Moor and also met him at a book launch evening where he signed my copy of Charles Buchan’s Football Monthly (the best of Burnley soccer gift book) - a full page colour of him in action during 1960-61.
A memorable regular player during a very successful period for Burnley including Championship, European Cup and scoring in the Cup Final.
Sadly missed but so fondly remembered!

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
RIP Jimmy. Born in the same year as my dad (Charlyt from this board) and they both served some of their apprenticeship together, when trainee footballers also had to have a trade.
The first thing I thought when I heard this news was to speak to my dad, but sadly he also passed away in September.

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
RIP Jimmy. Having been to Villa Park to see the Burnley v Fulham fa cup semi my Dad wouldn't take me to the replay at Leicester, so I had to listen out for the result on the radio. When I realised that we had won and Jimmy had scored both our goals and we were Wembley bound, he was my Hero.

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
That is very sad. Very much an important part of the Championship winning team. I remember my dad always said that all he did was score goals, lots of them.
RIP Jimmy.

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
A champion.
Sad news.
Look forward now to being able to stand in silent respect for a minute, on Wednesday. He was part of the fabric.

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
A very sad day indeed. Jimmy was an integral part of our success in the 60s and is rightly remembered as a 'Legend'.
My lasting memory of Jimmy was away from Turf Moor though. I and a couple of friends went to watch him run in the Bolton half marathon and I managed to get a couple of photos as he ran past. Sadly, I no longer have them.

Extremely sad news and another link with our glorious past lost. Definitely a "gentleman" and a real family man as well as a great footballer, who as other have said, lived the dream and scored in a cup final at Wembley.

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
I met him in Sainsburys a few years back and the conversation went
“Do you remember me, you used to collect my pools”
“Yes, of course, but I remember you more as a Burnley legend who scored at Wembley”
We both laughed

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
A great servant of the club RIP Jimmy. I think that leaves Alex Elder as the only regular from the 59-60 season apart from Bobby Seith and Trevor Meredith who made the biggest impact with his goal but didnt play much that season

Trevor Meredith only played a few games as you say but Alex Elder and Bobby Seith are the only other two. Bobby has had a leg amputated and Alex is blind.

Re: RIP Jimmy Robson
I used to love bumping into Jimmy up Towneley, he was an absolute Gentleman. He'd tell us his football stories which were fascinating to listen to, and he remembered every kick. He even told us about games that he played up Towneley in the Amateurs league at 15/16yrs old, apparently was something that all the apprentices were ordered to do by the club to toughen them up.
RIP Jimmy Robson the legend.

In some ways it is easier to write when you know them well but it’s also more difficult, especially someone like Jimmy Robson who was just such a good bloke.
