Thanks Elaine

Post by ClaretTony » Wed Dec 29, 2021 2:28 pm

As reported a few weeks ago, Elaine Clare is hanging up her ticket machine and retiring at the end of this week.

This morning, I was one of the committee members of Burnley FC Supporters Groups who went down to the ticket office to thank her for all the terrific work she has done over the years on behalf of the supporters.

We didn't go empty handed, BFC SG had two vases specially commissioned and they were given to Elaine along with a display of flowers.

Just a few words, with pics of the vases and flowers at:

She will certainly be missed because she always helped and went a lot further than I could have expected on a number of occasions, particularly when I had a bad accident 3 years ago and couldn't drive. A good friend offered to drive me the 300 mile round trip and Elaine helped out in my managing to get tickets for him. Although he was, and still is, a Toon fan he became a ST holder at the Turf for the last couple of seasons and thoroughly enjoyed his visits. All made possible because of Elaine's help.

She certainly went beyond the call of duty on many occasions. Happy (and we'll earned) retirement, with best wishes from all at Accy Clarets.

Very very true, whilst I’m sure she decided to call in a day so it’s not relevant in his case…

I’ve worked with lady who they moved on when redundancies came and everyone but those at the top realised the work they did. I still to this day speak to a lady I worked with who absolutely ran the place in my office and we stopped working together 6 years ago and she retired 2 years ago.

Always remember when my mum threw away my Ewood ticket by accident and Elaine argued the toss with them to reprint it when they didn’t want to… literally not giving up til the day of the match when I collected my tickets. She has helped me out numerous times over the years whenever I needed it but I owe watching us beat them lot down the road for the first time in my life to this woman.

With recent experiences of the staff at the club it’s unfortunate that people like Elaine won’t be there to help fans because these are the staff who really do try and go above and beyond.

Elaine was always the go to in the ticket office. Always tried to make sure it was Elaine who served me. Then I knew it would correct with minimal explanation. Thanks for all the help over the years. Happy retirement.

My last visit to the ticket office was for the recent England u21 game where Elaine got “creative” with the transaction of the tickets for the kids football team which was very appropriated 🤭😉

I fully endorse CT's article and the sentiments contained therein. In addition I can only add my own appreciation and respect for this wonderful lady. Nothing was a chore, and she would almost manage the impossible to make sure myself, my colleagues and many other Clarets fans were able to attend games. Elaine will be sadly missed by Clarets fans far & wide, the remaining ticket office staff and most of all by BFC.
Thank you for serving us so well over the years Elaine and my colleagues & I hope you enjoy your retirement will that it is a long & happy one Elaine.
Best wishes Pete F.

I never realised buying a ticket for a game was this complicated and needed so much sorting out. Sounds like my experience over the years of going in, handing over money, receiving a ticket in return was incredibly fortunate going off some of the responses here.
