Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
Surely won’t be Lennon up front. Lennon will be wide with Mcneil ten!?
Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
If McNeil is playing as the third central midfielder/ number 10 then great.
If not, then rubbish.

Yeah that would be ridiculous so surely not, I’d hope it’s McNeil in the 10burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:19 pmSurely we aren't playing 4-4-2 with that line up. No way Lennon starts ahead of Vyds.

Wait - why are we playing this considering the amount of players we have out for Covid AND injuries on top (seen as that seems to bizarrely count)?
How does this compare with Villa and Everton?

No, because as you can clearly see, we can field a team. I'd rather us not resort to the sort of dishonesty and cheating we've seen in recent weeks.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:19 pmPope, Brownhill, Rodriguez and Cornet all missing. Couldn’t we have had this called off?

Either Vdys is not fully fit, or he is being sold. I really fancied him to score tonight. If he is fully fit, he will be furious and quite rightly.

Quite simple really, we have 18 players on the match sheet and a couple others like Glennon that could be on the bench.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:23 pmWait - why are we playing this considering the amount of players we have out for Covid AND injuries on top (seen as that seems to bizarrely count)?

Frustrating that we finally play but have our own COVID/injury issues when every other team in the Prem seem to be happy to call their games off.

When Lennon is in your starting XI in the last game of 2021 you know you’re bang in trouble. Still he’ll run around a lot and look busy so that’s a box ticked…

If Lennon is going to be used on the left, with McNeil central meaning a midfield 5, why the f""" not bring back Brownhill and play McNeil in his best position?

Newcastle had 2 players injured so could get their game called off so it’s all ok. This league is a joke.

Were Everton, Villa and Newcastle seriously suggesting they didn’t have 13?Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:26 pmQuite simple really, we have 18 players on the match sheet and a couple others like Glennon that could be on the bench.

We have, off the top of my head based on that squad:
Pope
Barnes
Cornet
Roberts
Rodriguez
Long
Brownhill
Pope
All unavailable to play. How does that compare with the aforementioned clubs? Remember, injuries count…apparently.
Edit - also, you’re assuming regarding players such as Glennon. He’s made the bench plenty so I doubt that he was available.

Looking at our team and bench and then looking at United's we really shouldn't stand a chance. But we will see.

Neither did the other teams meet that standard. They had young players to fill the bench, just like we've got Thomas on the bench tonight. You know, an inexperienced lad.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:32 pmThat’s exactly what it means.

The difference is we've not made an application to get it postponed. That's the only difference.

I know the rules of the Premier League. I am asking as I am too lazy to do this myself, are we seriously saying that Everton, Villa and Newcastle had less players available for selection than us? Considering we run the lowest squad size in the division and (on the team sheets evidence) are decimated, I find that incredibly hard to believe.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 7:32 pmThat’s exactly what it means.

Re: Man Utd v the Clarets - match thread
We only ever had an outside chance, that team hasn't a snowball in hells.
If we get something from this game it will be the best points we've ever earned in the Prem.
Really sad considering the missing are hardly likely to be injured, with no game in the last 18 days, I've moaned about other clubs players not being vaccinated, so it would be wrong not to moan about our own. When fans can't get into the ground without a covid passport, even if they've paid for a season ticket it's time all players manned up and did their bit.
