Well, that's completely untrue, of course, but some of your potential replacements' names and acceptable transfer fees would give your comment a little more context...

It’s not great at all, we desperately needed some creativity from the wing or midfield but it’s done now.
People need to accept it and roar the club on, there is literally no point dwelling at this point. The club needs all our energy focused on the players.
Beat Watford on Saturday and it’s absolutely game on - that is all that matters now.

Rouwen Hennings scored his goals in Bundesliga B.spt_claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 3:59 pmRouwen Hennings notched 15 in 2020.
That said he was linked with Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham at various times and from what I've seen is a real threat.
From a cursory glance Wout has scored 1 Vs Dortmund, 2 Vs Bayern, a few Vs Leipzig and Leverkusen, and bags Vs Hoffenheim, Bremen, Schalke, Dusseldorf and Union Berlin. But you can only score against what you play against, and Wolfsburg aren't exactly littered with creative and attacking stars, best they have is Camacho and Brekalo, Weghorst was pretty much carrying them for a couple years.

No, I'm simply asking Milltown or you, if you fancy it, to offer a few replacements' names and acceptable transfer fees.
We've had targets and these, for various reasons, haven't materialised and you've not once offered any appreciation of what's been attempted.
Fair enough but your comments seem to suggest you have some better ideas of your own, it would be helpful to know if this is true.

O.k I will take the bait for your fishing trip. I assume your ok that the only thing needed here is to show we would have improved on what we have currently got. So here goes.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:31 pmNeither did I![]()
You've done a lot of criticising but when asked who you might have had in mind or how much you think the club should have spent this window, you've suddenly gone all coy on us.
I would have sold Tarks when we had the chance to maximise his worth. We got £25m for Wood and have spent £12m on getting WW. We were told there was money available to support the manager and indeed if you believe the reports we did make bids on Fulgini, Fofana and Orsic. If true then we had money to spend. There was generally a consensus by most posters on this message board that we needed more incomings. Whilst not a complete reflection of views a general view was I think it is fair to say was that we needed a RW or wide right sided midfield player, a defensive midfield player because these had been weaknesses identified for a number of windows that we had failed to address. It can be argued that we also needed more recently another CB because Tarks was not going to stay. Although Wood has been replaced this left us in the same state as before only JayRod is out of form, Barnes is coming back from another injury and is clearly not the same player he was anyway. Vydra needs an operation and is leaving anyway so another striker was also needed. We have so far failed to address any of these issues let alone thinking about the future and replacing are aging out of contract players. We haven't even strengthened the Development squad this time around. I don't see the evidence of many coming through to our senior ranks.
Well we could have bid for Jason Knight and Tom Lawrence in midfield these are valued at around £7m each because of the current situation at Derby. We could have bid for Jed Wallace as an upgrade on JBG. rumoured that £1.5m would have secure him. Fitzwater at Livingston at CB rumoured at £1m, Worrall at NF rumoured at £10m, Vaughn at Sunderland £3m, the kid at Oldham (can't remember his name) rumoured at £2m. Even Keiffer Moore is going for £3.5m. There are lots of quality players across Europe similar to Osric going for less than £10m, Lovric of HNL Gorica was £3,5 a winger or forward, we could have upped bids for Fofana and Fulgini. There was Seferovic at Benfica at around £13m, Doig at Hibernian at £3m a left back . I could go on.....

Knight & Lawrence at Derby should be within our range in terms of fees and wages, and Jed Wallace at Millwall is another we could have snapped up relatively cheaply, now the question remains could they adapt to the PL, but if we can't shop at the top table, and I completely understand why that's the case. then we should be looking at those types of players who we are more likely to obtain.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:56 pm6 million. Blown it
I don’t think we have enough to make a difference now.
The only hope is Cornet keeps fit now and gets a partnership going with Weghurst.
Oh and lets hope Dyche plays Weghurst from the off and not leave it weeks!
And Roberts first choice too.
Dare to dream, I was beginning to with the possibility of signing Orsic, but then I was woken up....back to our ClaretsWorld reality.
May be we set our sights too high, Ramsey and Lingard etc.
What no loans

What do you honestly think sways a football player, most of whom scrape through school and either dont care about politics, dont understand politics, or see politics as just something to sell their rights for? These are multi millionaires they are hardly ambassadors to the downtrodden no matter how hard their PR teams try.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:27 pmIf only it was just metropolitan lubbers who sneered at the white racist scumbags who pollute our town. They say you are judged by the company you keep I suspect you just don’t notice it.
How many actually sit down and pour through the social and political history of a town they don't even have to live in, which is unrelated to the club they would be employed by, then go "oh no thanks there's been people in that town whose views I disagree with", without so much as hearing a word from the club? Almost none.
How many look at 3 things- salary, trophy/international chances, match time, and pick according to which offers the most? Hell increasingly how many pick just based on salary? Almost all.
The only people thinking about and making everything political 24/7 and clamouring on about how divided the world is, are the same people demanding everyone else be political 24/7 and that if you aren't always loudly political for A, you must be B, helping increase the division they oppose (which keeps them in work, handily).
Not everyone cares about some pricks in a plane as much as you. Not everyone makes being on Red Tie Team or Blue Tie Team key to their identity. The one team that can unify that is a football team, but only if people actually let sport unify people instead of demanding people conform, people rarely respond well to that approach and often push the other way out of spite.
I'm sure you'll attribute all sorts of views to me after this, you'll be wrong. As you are with the idea that if only Burnley got BLM as shirt sponsors then suddenly we'd sign players.
This is such an insipid argument as it asks fans to do better than full time professionals with access to endless databases and a team on hand to mobilise resources for them, which would be pretty illustrative of the problem if amateurs surpass pros, but for argument's sake:evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 7:31 pmNeither did I![]()
You've done a lot of criticising but when asked who you might have had in mind or how much you think the club should have spent this window, you've suddenly gone all coy on us.
Adnan Januzaj- valued £10.8m by Transfermarkt, available on a free this summer, talented Belgian winger who's lost his way but has skill. Might fancy oming back northwest.
Ryan Sessegnon- only 21, leftsided but even moving McNeil to the right improves our wings as he's clearly better than our current options, even if he's not available permanently Spurs would likely loan him due to lack of gametime.
Ricardo Horta- 27yo Portugese winger at Braga, valued at 15m by Transfermarkt, good consistent scoring record and can play either wing, in the hole or deputise up front.
Nicolas Dominguez- 23yo Argentine international combative CM at Bologna valued 11.7m, slightly similar to Kalvin Phillips.
Real quick lookabout, don't have nearly the resources the club has, we've probably already looked at and ruled them out for 1 reason or another. But you asked.

At least he'd offer something different to JBG.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:13 pmSign Wallace for the Championship, we already know he's good at that level
And I'm genuinely confused what our transfer strategy is, I thought with the summer captures of Collins, Cornet & Roberts we were aiming for a more youthful approach, and also looking to develop players who in a year or two we might be able to make a profit on, and then reinvest that profit back into the squad.
But in this window we've seemingly put all our eggs in the Orsic and Weghorst baskets, one didn't come off, and one did, but both are nearing 30, and are unlikely to have much if any sell-on value.
So in the event of relegation we'll be left with an almighty rebuild, and the dire prospect of dealing with a large drop in income, plus servicing our debt.

I think orsic and weghorst were our try and stay up signings . Simply as that. One came off. Probably won't be enough unfortunately.tiger76 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 8:23 pmAt least he'd offer something different to JBG.
