So while the rest of the world are imposing sanctions on Russia, India are buying oil from Russia because it's cheap and Turkey are laying on special flights for Russia tourists to be able to holiday in Turkey.

The phrase "f**k you jack I'm OK" springs to mind.

Hopefully the Russians going to Turkey will get to see the truth on the Turkish channels and buy speaking to other holiday makers and bring it back to Russia.

Re India let's cut of their foreign aid now.
The Indians have said many times that they don't want, and don't need our foreign aid. It's a political decision based on the old commonwealth, rather than an actual need. We don't need to cut the aid, we need to treat them to the same sanctions that Russia gets. No one should be allowed to sit on the fence on this war, you need to choose sides and stand by your decision.

Looks old judging by weather. Also lots of near misses - took a few goes to take them out? And probably abandoned since they were going nowhere, making no attempt to move or fight back?

This touches on a wider point about sanctions as a whole. There is little that we as the UK, or the west collectively can do without feeling the the effects. Even what has done now with Russia will impact our lives, and I don’t think the true nature of that has hit home yet.

The West will have to eventually decide can they sufficiently hurt Putin with sanctions designed to have minimum impact in the West or, if they need to accept Western living standards will have to take a major hit in the interest of ending Putin’s ambition. The West may need to decide which will be more disruptive sanctions that cripple the West or war that cripples the west for generations to come.

Yes. Absolutely there is a sliding scale on the sanctions available and their relative impact. The point I’m making is that even those sanctions that exist now will have some impact on our lives as we live them. Minimum impact is a very relative term when talking about what we will feel. You just hope the reports of Russia sliding into a recession worse than that of the 90s aren’t over egged.

It’s grim reading true enough. However, bare in mind Ukraine has asked for a blackout of Ukraine led actions. The news around Mariupol looks very much to me like Ukraine are baiting Russia to go for ‘the easy target’ of Mariupol. But time will tell.

So what?

I mean really, the jobs shouldn't have been allowed to be outsourced in the first place, and no matter what rebounds on us, it's an itch compared to what Ukraine is facing.
Stopping gas and oil from Russia will rebound on us, and I couldn't care less, so long as it stops Putin.

Looks like an old sniper rifle, but care must be taken. A sniper trained with old kit may be so comfortable with the weapon he has used hunting all his life than a modern weapon. It could be too easy to make assumptions about supply based on individuals.

I've had a google and can't find the answer, do we know how much the equipment losses to date will have cost Russia (in ££££'s) just to get an idea of how long it will take them to afford to get their crap together again? They must be hemorrhaging cash at the moment and will surely bring them to their knees?

This is why the Oil/gas debate is so relevant. At the moment the West is still bankrolling Russia’s potential to re-arm. The gamble the West is taking is that they can help Ukraine wipe out Russian armour faster than they can produce/buy replacements.

I have read loads of threads on this and it’s hard to be definitive. The Russian tanks vary a lot as they have really old kit.

If you think circa £1 million per tank your going to be in the ball park. I have seen stuff saying the tank plant has had to stop production as it used parts from the west that sanctions have stopped. It apparently made 200 tanks per year. Russia is losing that amount in two weeks.

Planes I have seen prices of 20-30 million, which seems around the ball park I would expect.

No idea about the rest. But this is the kit each BTG needs or uses.

Hardly likely it will be ‘switched off’ - rationing is far more realistic, but price rises will have that effect in any case.

Never been in the Army but did years of shooting , shotguns, rifles and air rifles and he is not shooting that like a sniper would. IMHO of course
Wasn’t a sniper but he isn’t shooting as if he is a trained sniper all seems very rushed. He could be a very good shot but he isn’t a military trained good shot. I guess from the separatist areas some of there kit is awful.

PHILLIPS OBrien - Update of his on going thread. Russian casualties some of the worse reposts ever, the Germans loss a smaller % in Kursk for example (others given too), even if (they’re not) my figures are way above true Russian losses.

Good job too. Dodik is a man full of hatred who describes the genocide of Srebrenica (8,000 civilians all men and boys) a "myth".

He has been doing his utmost to bring war back to Bosnia for years.

This is a lass training using a sniper rifle. Part of the dirty dozen volunteers.
