It’s the 2.5 million a year that concerns me for an unproven manager. Let’s hope it’s not another expensive mistake by ALK.
I imagine that’s if promoted and will reduce if not.

That is, if he’s signed of course.

Probably only on here.
Not sure about that. Social media is exactly the same, and the many fans I know ‘in real life’ all feel the total lack of information coming out of the club since the season ended is a disgrace. Worth adding that a lot of them are some of the most generally optimistic Burnley fans you could meet (unlike me, who generally worries).

As dande just said, what a boon it would have been to get Kompany announced shortly after the season ended, get the fans back onside and excited after the disappointment of relegation, get contract renewals/releases sorted etc. The opportunity was there to get an early ‘reset’ and ‘rebrand’ going.

We are chasing our tails already now, big time. 7 weeks till the first game.

Don't believe that's ever been the issue
It's so much easier to dismiss another Journo's inside information than it is to provide any that can be judged after the event.

If you know something, then tell us. At least explain what is holding things up.

I'd say the opposite tbh. The fans I know are glad of the break from football news after such a slog of a season, I know I am. Its generally the ones who live on social media who seem to want hourly updates from the club.

When there's news, there'll be news. Chill.

Unproven in the championship, but he does have 3yrs experience as a manager and all that goes with it, so he isn't really that unproven.

I look forward to Mee , Pope and Cornet all staying

Meanwhile, other Burnley journo's with the same access as anyone else connected to the club state the hold up was a work permit:

https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/f ... e-24161906

We need to give him an ultimatum, Sign or walk. Seems we are as skilled at signing managers as we are players. There is no reason we couldn't have signed contracts prior to work permit approval.

That’s still pretty inexperienced.

I am personally not fussed about experience as long as he has shown in the interview potential. From the outside I can understand peoples concerns

It’s all going pear shaped. Looks like he’s off to Nice. No need for a work permit you see. Ah, the wonders of brexit.

May I ask, where does it ‘look like he’s off to Nice’?

By this, are you referring to a speculative piece in the Belgian press suggesting he’s on Nice’s shortlist of 3 managers to replace a manager who is still at their club?

Or do you have anything else to add?

No, it’s really not.

This is where some people really struggle grasping the concept of social media.

Lancs live have copied and pasted from the Belgian stuff and used a click bait headline, just for people like you, to click on and be ‘oh my days the lancs live are saying it!’. Job done.

LancsLive is just citing the Belgian reports without any extra info.

I understand these things can take time but it's nearly two months since Dyche was sacked now, more than a fortnight since the season ended. It's a big summer with a lot of players out of contract, others expected to be sold to sort out the finances, plenty of signings needed to replace those who go.

This delay is unhelpful and if Kompany goes elsewhere or it doesn't happen for another reason we will presumably be back to square one, or arguably in an even worse position, having also missed out on other good candidates like Farke in the meantime.

The fact Nice still have a manager and the rumour is from him potentially going to PSG is the most bizarre part of all this. If we have to wait around for PSG to decide who they want in charge that’s absolutely baffling.

So the story is that if PSG (who have a manager) appoint the Nice manager, then Kompany is one of three candidates for the Nice job. And Kompany is supposed to turn down the Burnley job to be on a shortlist for a job that isn't available. Come on.

It says

- they are yet to lose their manager and the move to PSG may not even transpire as PSG want a Champs League winning coach
- they ‘might’ have Kompany as an option if he leaves
- they ‘might’ have met him last week
- Lucian Favre is also on their list

Not sure which part of that means ‘he’s off to Nice’ or makes it ‘looking unlikely’.

Not sure why people are in a flap about this. Managers can up and walk at any point anyway, in essence, look at what Coyle did to us. Some were worried for years about Dyche leaving, all the club can do is make us as attractive as possible based on salary, transfer fund, league position, infrastructure and harmony behind the scenes. Then loads of good managers will want in.

I still expect Kompany to be announced imminently btw.

No it says he might have met them last week.

Who knows when that might have been.

Funny that you prefer to believe and direct your attention towards this story by a paper you’ve never heard of, than Nixon who’s been right in more than one occasion with us.

Just to add, Nixon also reported this weekend that Bellamy is set to be Kompany’s assistant.

Nixon on twitter now responding to fans asking what’s the hold up and should we be worried:

‘Your clubs not worried’

‘I did say permits come in their own time… but that doesn’t stop people asking every day’

I would sooner have the traditional 'Nothing to Report' until there is something confirmed.

No point coming out with partial information, transfer rumours etc from the Club, if nothing else it is unprofessional.

So the story is that if PSG (who have a manager) appoint the Nice manager, then Kompany is one of three candidates for the Nice job. And Kompany is supposed to turn down the Burnley job to be on a shortlist for a job that isn't available. Come on.
And that he has met Nice to discuss terms with last week.

This lack of not telling fans directly what is going on is a joke , makes the club look very amateur.

Tell us what is going on even if it falls through!
Can just imagine what would happen to a club that announced everything they were working on, especially in regards to staff and player signings / contract negotiations

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

So he discussed terms with Nice last week ? How come he hasn't been unveiled as their manager ?
