Re: Wout Weghorst
Yeah I’m familiar with it but it’s usually just used by numbskulls as a retort to people calling out racism. I was agreeing with your point about why someone would bring Weghorst’s race (I should really have said nationality) into the discussion with regards his attitude. Because that person wasn’t me.
I genuinely don’t want to take this thread off topic. I just think that particularly at a time when there is a focus on the club due to one of our stands being named after someone who held anti semitic views, it isn’t a good look to read lazy stereotypes about someone due to their nationality.
It’s not a big deal, I’m sure nobody is offended, but it’s just symptomatic of the casual racism which I often read on here so thought I’d point it out, because I don’t think some people even know when they’re doing it.

I don't wish to have a go at Weghorst, but if he wants out then fair enough.
For what it's worth: i think he tried his guts out early on and was influential.
Perhaps he just couldn't sustain that level of output.

I just can't take anything you type seriously when you're using a full stop instead of a comma, it's something you learn in primary school. It's natural for anyone without sh*t for brains.

Let me give you the opinion of people like myself trying hard to fight racism in the community. We are fed up with uneducated people undermining our hard work by agitating situations at every opportunity

Not sure how to respond to that really.
I used to spend several weeks a year, visiting my brother who lived in several parts of the Netherlands, playing golf and having several Dutch friends, who all racially stereotype different nationalities. British are “cloutsakkers” Germans “Drittons” ect. I think every nation stereotype other nations, some more harsher than others.

No idea what those terms mean without looking them up, so I've no clue whether they'd be deemed offensive or not, but claiming that Weghorst's faults are down to the fact he's Dutch is beyond stupid.clive40golf wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 8:48 pmNot sure how to respond to that really.

This is why I said most people, not all. In my opinion he's a lot better than Wood. But I don't care to debate, we will agree to disagree.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 7:55 pmHe turned out to be a bad signing despite him getting the advantage of a decent start to his Burnley career. He most definitely is not an upgrade on Wood. That was just an initial illusion.
The player clearly thinks he is a better player than what most of us have seen. The sooner we get rid the better in my opinion.
Watched Roberts reaction in the Holland game and thought good on him. Hopefully that's an indication that he is going to give it everything next season to get us back on the up again

You know why the Dutch are a tall race of people, it's because their country is susceptible to flooding.

Agreed. I've been guilty on this post of pointlessly starting a argument with KRBFC. I've just been p***ed off reading crap. So from discussing the Wout/Roberts incident I've ended up name calling and almost being taught when it is a good time to use the Oxford comma.
I apologise for this and will try to stick with the football

Re: Wout Weghorst
Yes they can be deemed offensive, but I suppose it’s a Dutch humour trait, a very straightforward comparison humour. 99% of the Dutch people I’ve met are lovely people but they do have a different way of looking at things. It’s not racist or stupid to mention that Most Dutch people look at failure different to how the British people do . They have a strong self belief, a positive view of themselves, if something goes wrong on the sports field or golf course it’s more likely that they will think it’s anything but them or their ability.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 8:52 pmNo idea what those terms mean without looking them up, so I've no clue whether they'd be deemed offensive or not, but claiming that Weghorst's faults are down to the fact he's Dutch is beyond stupid.
Not to worry though, I’ll keep the stiff upper lip that most British people have……. Wait a moment!!!

Re: Wout Weghorst
Honestly, I defended Wout when he came, I think he has a better all around game than Wood. He's proved he's struggled to be effective though, albeit in a team and system that hasn't suited him. He doesn't look quick or strong enough for premier league level. I remember an interview before Dyche left where he said about Wout needing to concentrate on his own game or words to that effect. Then there was the moment he was subbed, the wording around him not playing in the championship and then this liking of a blackburn rovers page (Is he on a wind up). None of it fills me with the confidence he is a "good apple" within the camp.
Needs to go permanently.

Re: Wout Weghorst
Isn't it just possible that his contract has it that he would not be required to play in the Championship? That he would be allowed to play elsewhere on loan until we return to the Prem? - Unusual, yes, but it might have been the only way Mr.Pace could get his signature.

to all those on here that were keep calling out for us to sign some foreign talent. this is what happens. a player not suited to our style and who is obviously very unpopular with the other players and already wants to quit. Dyche was right to go with what he knew. That's my issue with VK now if he signs. We are going into the unknown yet again. Stick to what we know best and we will be fine.

Re: Wout Weghorst
I've thought about it and I think both Robert and Weghorst were right
Roberts was right to have a go, he's a very proud Welshman and would have been gutted to concede after getting back into it, and it was almost certainly heat of the moment stuff
Weghorst was right to say its nothing to do with Burnley, he's playing for his national team (which he clearly loves) and was delighted to score a goal
Course, I don't think Weghorst is helping his cause at all at the moment with what he's coming out with the press!
