Nixon linking us with Blackpool right back Jordan Gabriel, as Connor Roberts may attract PL attention.

To be honest, that’s pretty much the last position I was hoping for a link to.

I must say I’d be surprised that Roberts gets a move back to the Prem, though Forest with Cooper (played for him at Swansea) might look to him, with Spence probably going to Spurs.

Also, James McAtee from City linked with a loan to Huddersfield, he’s the exact player we need and should be all over, I’d be really disappointed if he goes to Huddersfield.

I know nothing about Gabriel at Blackpool.

Roberts going would be strange but I wonder if we can make a decent profit on him as we really nicked him last summer for £2.5m and, like you say, Cooper likes him and Forest are losing their right wing back of last season by the looks of it.

I too was hoping for more attacking/midfield players to be linked as this is where we need the biggest shift in the squad in my opinion and I agree that McAtee at Man City looks excellent and just the sort of player we need.

Lowts is more than capable in the Chamionship so if we can make a good profit then it makes sense. Bit galling to lose players to newly promoted sides though isn’t it. That’s if it is Forest.

Yeah, can’t see anyone else in the PL who’d want Roberts tbh, he wasn’t exactly great last season.

Kompany will want a more attacking full back than Lowton, hence the Gabriel link.

I agree on the profit making side. Just seems a strange move Gabriel is decent but not convinced he’s promotion worthy. He was third choice right back at Forrest 6 months ago. However he only cost Blackpool half a mil. So maybe we can pick him up for around 1 mil. They double there money and we cover a position.

I agree I thought macatee was almost a certain loan signing for us.

To be honest, I’m not sure anyone knows what the ALK model is yet. People will quote the net spend, forgetting the forced sale of Wood for £25m. Otherwise they’ve been investors vs sellers so far.

But one thing I’m pretty confident in is that ALK’s model involves us in the Premiership and that is not best achieved by selling established internationals and replacing them with inferior players on the cheap.

Max Aarons is being linked and Rashica wants away but other than them, Norwich don’t really have anyone who’d be desirable.

Comes down to what a team needs. Allison is a better "modern" goalkeeper than Courtois but had Allison been in nets for Real Madrid then Liverpool take home the Champions League trophy instead.

Coincidentally, Pope is one of the top 4 shot stoppers in world football alongside Courtois (https://twitter.com/smarterscout/status ... rlvSw&s=19).

Because one aspect of his game is lacking doesn't make him a worse goalkeeper but it just means he won't be a fit for most top level teams.

The issue Pope is facing is that there isn't a top level team with a vacancy that would prefer a keeper like him. In the PL he'd be perfect at Spurs or Chelsea, out of place at Liverpool, City, Arsenal and (now, under Ten Hag) United.

We'll need to be smart in the market, where we can't find affordable quality we'll want to plug those gaps with loans which will cost significantly less. A player of Harwood-Bellis' quality/potential would be north of £10m.

Get the loan in, save the money for a different area of the pitch where a player with potential/resale value may be affordable.

Who knows, if we get promoted with him as a key player and he really settles into the club we may be able to buy him next summer (with a buyback clause for City).

Many reasons, relegation clauses, needing to trim the wage bill, and some players wanting away, plus any new manager wanting to bring his own style to the club, but the main reason is servicing the debt repayments sadly, also some players we may have wished to keep are OOC, so we have no choice in whether they stay or go.

Plus I dont think Watford and Norwich have as many 30+ aged players as us. With games coming thick and fast in the Championship, you need younger legs and quick recovery

Yeah, he will have some players he’s worked with or knows from Man City etc. I’m just saying that we have people responsible for identifying players, so I don’t think Kompany needs to have an in depth knowledge of Blackpool’s squad, for example.

Having ample cover is a good thing, competition brings the best out of players .
