Disastrous start. Things can only get better.
I open the thread to learn of his appointment, and immediately Joe Root is dismissed.
I shouldn't have taken my eyes off the tele!
Seriously though. This has to be considered very positive news and welcomed.

Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
Have we sacked our club photographers? Why is the only picture of Kompany one that looks like it was taken anywhere in the world on someones phone? Has Kompany even visited Burnley yet as that photo could have been taken anywhere?

Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
Doesn’t seem like a normal appointment
Taken ages due to ‘work permit’
No signs of how long the deal is for
All articles headline ‘first team manager’
Didn’t get a chance to speak to players who left already
Highest paid in the league? So we don’t go up does he also have a get out clause think pace is after a quick fix

He's definitely been to Gawthorpe at some point in the last few weeks, but perhaps before the photos stage

Very good signing, will have plenty of contacts home and abroad, his name alone will be persuasive.

It's can be depressing on here these days. Too many people pour scorn over everything and catastrophising, even when there is good news to share.
Anyway, here's a big welcome to Vince!

Most exciting thing that's happened since the 7th place season, wouldn't be if it was Wilder that was announced.
I'm looking forward to next season now, great appointment

Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
Positive news.
I'd be pretty certain he's been promised significant funds.
I'd also imagine his game is to get us up and keep us up for a season before getting a plush gig with a top six outfit.
It looks like we're going to be serious about promotion, and possibly in no rush to push any of our better players out the door.

Here's hoping he brings Steven Defour with him.

To me it was a thoughtful interview. Few of the usual cliches and a realistic assessment. Whatever the outcome he doen't appear to be the typical manager.

Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
Can't say I loved the interview if I'm honest. If there were more appealing names go there.
Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
He could have worded it better - perhaps bigger names might have sat better than more appealing names. I think that’s what he was probably meaning.

Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
He clearly means what would be deemed more appealing by the wider public but he chose us because of other more worthwhile factors. That’s a good thing. Some people will just moan about anything on here.

Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
Welcome to Burnley Vincent. With this appointment, Pace wants to get back up at the first attempt. He has made his intentions clear. I just hope we can get the majority of our business done before the season starts. We need players at the club who fit the identity and style of football which VK wants to play. That's key for me. We can ill afford a slow start. The pressure will be on VK, we have to give him some time to adjust to this league, but we are playing catch up now, I hope VK has already done his homework in the positions he wants to strengthen and the potential pool of players he is looking at. Fingers crossed this appointment works and that we can start winning games again and playing a style of football which the players can relate to and develop under. UTC.
Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
Doesn’t really make sense tho does it, he’s not a Burnley fan so would you do that?
Re: ARTICLE: Good Kompany – Welcome Vincent
I thought it was clear as a bell , he meant that Burnley was the best choice overall for him.

Did he not say something there were perhaps more appealing names to the media and the wider public. Clearly if they were more appealing to him he would have been there already
