Good news.

Could he be the back up to Taylor this season?

As it stands, it looks like it. I think a 3 year deal shows how highly rated he is.

Might explain why we've not been linked to any left-backs.

And the fact we've offered him a 3 year contract suggests that Kompany sees him as playing a role alongside Taylor this season.

He looked decent when he came on against Huddersfield and put our best cross of the game in from the left.

It's not much to go off, I know, but hopefully we'll see a bit more of him this season.

Happy for him and love his attitude. Here’s to hoping he continues to develop. We all want to see determined lads succeed at Burnley. UTC!

Excellent move from the manager and club, shows there is a pathway for the youngsters and encouragement to keep working hard .

It’s interesting that in VKs latest interview when asked about transfers, he was saying as the days and weeks go on he’s getting a better idea of what is already available at the club. Dodgson might just be one that falls into that category.

He looks exactly what our younger lads don't seem to have ie a tall strong physique. Not easily brushed off the ball. Finn Armstrong impresses me at LB but he's a slighter build.

I remember that ball in was wicked-the rest of them had done feck all for 80 mins are so. Looking back at that game now it’s no wonder we got relegated.Fair play on the club and kompany with this deal so refreshing to see.

Good to that the new management are showing faith and offering this lad a new contract, they can obviously see he has something about him.

The kids who are on to the fringes will no doubt get their chance now we have dropped a League and have a manager and chairman who encourage youth

Scored on his Burnley debut, as a trialist. (As I recall it)

Absolutely shocking from BFC if we contacted him before his contract expires :D

I feel that players in his bracket usually get 2 more years and are expected to populate the U23s and see where they are after that, but to get a 3 year deal in his case certainly seems to indicate someone thinks he's destined for more. I hope so.

3 year deals are definitely not common practice. I knew he’d been offered a deal a while ago but I was pleasantly surprised at the length of contract.

Appreciate all the frustrations and disappointment of last season, but whilst only a beginning it does seem like a breath of fresh air……..good luck to the lad….
