I know we are not supposed to discuss it. But how can that physically be possible?

Even given all the financial problems that have been discussed I still can’t see how that deal is not possible.

Might just be a case of Metz is valuation is simply to much to be in our price range or what we want to spend or value him at
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
£70m in sales, can't afford £6m for a striker. Brilliant stuff

A lot could change especially with the two Metz players as we head into the final week. Kompany must know where we are still short.

I know people are bored of hearing it but £70m in sales and we're still broke. Truly disgraceful stuff.

Most likely we value him a lot less and don't want to get ripped off overpaying. Move onto next target.

Dyche used to always say "we have our valuation for players"Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 10:39 pmTbf is 4m seriously overpaying for a striker we believe is going to improve us?

You honestly believe the club have targeted a striker that is going to improve us and thought they could get him for 1-2m?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Kompany said he's out of our price range.
VK:
"It is a difficult one, there are some players that are out of our range financially. For us it is a player who is probably out of our range."
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Kompany did not say that. Entirely different what VK said.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 10:41 pmDyche used to always say "we have our valuation for players"

He is reported to be available for around 4 million pounds.
So, 4 million is out of Pace's price range for a centre-forward.

The club has raised 70 million from the fire sale of our Premier League team and now we can't afford 4 million for a Georgian striker from the French second division.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 12:09 amyou would hope, worst case scenario is we bring someone in on loan. Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Wow I see some crap in here I have no idea about the financials at the Club what the money raised will be spent on etc. I am sure though that whilst the outline figure will be near 70 mill what we have received already will be no where near. I wish people wouldn’t jump to conclusions and see how it goes before say commenting. Saying he could be out of our price range does not necessarily mean we can’t afford him it just means we aren’t prepared to spen that much on him.

It’s been said and explained to certain posters many, many times that 70m in sales is nowhere near what we will have received or have available but they continue to ignore it so they can spout their nonsense.JarrowClaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 12:35 amWow I see some crap in here I have no idea about the financials at the Club what the money raised will be spent on etc. I am sure though that whilst the outline figure will be near 70 mill what we have received already will be no where near. The likely figure, after paying Charlton, Stoke and Lyon, is closer to 40m and even then it’s unlikely all of that will have been received at once (unless the club have used Macquarie to forward the revenues on all of the deals).
As for this player, Nixon suggested we were bidding 5m and Metz wanted double that. Who knows what is accurate but he has been the most reliable journo this summer for us.

You should know by now it doesn’t work like that. You add up your total income subtract nothing and that is what you have to spend.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 6:13 amIt’s been said and explained to certain posters many, many times that 70m in sales is nowhere near what we will have received or have available but they continue to ignore it so they can spout their nonsense.

If you earn £100 a week then you take home £100 a week and have £100 to spend on what you want.
It is no wonder some seem to really struggle with everything

Could be the wages that are out of range or VK could be sending a public message as a negotiating tactic

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Do people really think that its a case of “we can’t afford £7m for him” rather then we don’t think he’s worth £7m the Metz want?
If a shop keeper knows I have £20 in my pocket and I want a packet of crisps, just because he might ask for £10 doesn’t mean I’m going to pay it

Nobody knows it’s actually 4.2mil, Alex James is going if they belgium reporter who said we bid 2.5mil but they want double, Nixon said we had bid 5mil but Metz want more. It’s all speculation. for all we know Metz could be asking for 10mil. 10mil for a player nobody had even heard of 2 weeks ago

In the absence of any real knowledge of the asking price, it’s all about your chosen narrative.
If you’re not keen on the current board, the “£4.2m” valuation is the one to pick.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Or 10, depending which reporter you believe.
At 7 or 10 I would agree he is out of our price range, for the type of player, and future value of the player we are targeting, it doesn't mean we cannot afford him, two completely different things.
