Man U have had something like 2473 consecutive cup games televised.
As nailed on as you can get.

True but that would be more relevant if we'd drawn City, I do take your point though, and the TV companies do love to show Man Utd games.

Money maker? Do we get half the gate money like the FA Cup or has that changed now?DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 10:45 pmGreat draw
Money maker and get out of cup and concentrate on the League where promotion has to be our aim

It’s a great draw for our young lions. They will be buzzing for this. Playing in the Theatre of Dreams against the biggest club in the world. What a great time for them to test themselves. Good rest before this too.

Re: Who do we want in round 4?
I remember how excited I was about the meeting in 2002/2003. It was the first time I’d seen us play United, and sadly I was one of the the only Burnley fans at Tod High, it was totally United dominated (I bet it’s not now). We gave it a really good go on the night - I remember Glen being excellent. Diego Forlan notched for them, strong side from them with Van Nistelrooy, Scholes, Giggs, Solskjaer and a few others getting on the pitch.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 10:48 pmSixth time we will have met them in this competition but still looking for a first win

The gate receipts earnings of every EFL Cup match are divided into three pots. 45% each is shared by home and away team regardless where the match is taking place while 10% goes to English FA.It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 10:53 pmMoney maker? Re: Who do we want in round 4?
I remember that game well. They even put a marquee up for the snobs behind the CFE. On the pitch Manure were absolutely terrifying back then. Probably the best sides I’d seen at the Turf in my lifetime. We gave it a damn good go though.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 10:57 pmI remember how excited I was about the meeting in 2002/2003. At least 14 off the top of my head - although it is late so forgive me if any of these might be wrong - I had to look up to see whether Lindelof and Sweden were goingrandomclaret2 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 11:10 pmSomething like 20 United players will be away at the World Cup

Looking forward to us having a go at their defence.
Bit nervous about how ours stands up.
Still reckon we can win this.

You'd think 10% would go to EFL, not sure why the FA get a cut, surely it would be for FA Cup?

Excellent draw not far to travel and expect to sell out quickly. Just like we did at Chelsea a few years ago 6000 .

It'll probably played on Wednesday and on sky so with the gate and sky money that'll be a nice 800k plus the round money, nice to make something from a bit of a cup run for a change

Decent draw
Day out in Manchester, be a good following, cup tie under lights and easy to get home from.

Would it be a good idea/gesture from the club to prioritise first pick for United tickets to those who attended the Crawley game. Just a suggestion.

Re: Who do we want in round 4?
I hadn't realised you were a United fan.
To be honest I think there are enough United players who've already played against the biggest club in the world to calm down the young lions in their squad, so we'll need to take them seriously and include at least some of our regular starters in our team that night
Likely we'll not have Roberts available though, he'll likely be still doing the media rounds and sobering up after his World Cup Final winning hat-trick.

That Robbie Blake goal still lives fresh in the memory!
Jay scored a cool goal against Manure last season...they are beatable... hope we get City at the Turf in the quarters.

For once it could be a huge away cup following like yesteryear , with Man Utd having the glamour we got all too used to week in week out in the prem . Take it totally seriously and we could be in for a great night .

Re: Who do we want in round 4?
Does anyone really expect us to sell out an allocation of 7500 just a few days before Xmas, especially if the game is on TV?
I'd love us to, but I just don't see it.

Re: Who do we want in round 4?
No game for a few weeks, plenty of people will be off work, chance of a few afternoon beers in Manny, school holidays so people will take the kids. We might not sell 7500 but I think we'll take a decent number, as long as tickets are sensibly priced.Mrpotatohead wrote: ↑Fri Nov 11, 2022 7:43 pmDoes anyone really expect us to sell out an allocation of 7500 just a few days before Xmas, especially if the game is on TV?

Re: Who do we want in round 4?
Has the date been set for this game? Just checked on sky and all the games listed for 20.12.22. Will some be moved to other days for TV? Unfortuantely Ive got something else booked for 20.12.22 and hoping its moved.
Re: Who do we want in round 4?
Yes, I reckon there's a good chance our game will be on TV. So it could be Tuesday, Wednesday or even Thursday seeing as neither team is playing until the following Tuesday(27th).
Re: Who do we want in round 4?
I'm in the same boat but there is a risk of mutiny on my boat if we don't get to OT. I too am waiting on the TV schedule to be confirmed but there is no indication of when that might be. There's also no read from the previous year (no WC to factor in) or from the last round (fixtures confirmed on 14 Sep for last week). Only once the dates have been confirmed can I weigh up the risk reward of OT (increased risk of divorce but happy kids) versus the panto (happy wife but mutiny). My own obvious preference for OT cannot be seen to influence the decision. Hard work being an admiral...or petty officer (3rd class) if my wife is in earshot.
Good luck with the dates - hope we both make it!
Re: Who do we want in round 4?
Old Trafford or Panto... surely that's going to be a similar experience all round right...?
