Re: January transfer window rumours.
Hoping the Tella situation can be resolved very soon, as Rodriguez is going through a spell where his form is nothing like it was pre November, and he missed an absolute sitter v Swansea which he invariably does when his confidence goes.Add that to his general fitness and it would be unwise to rely on him too much in the next 5 months. At least we can always play Tella more centrally. Barnes we hear has clubs showing interest in him leaving us exposed in strikers if he goes out on loan
Re: January transfer window rumours.
I doubt we'll hear anything regarding Tella unless he goes back. I expect we'll only know once the window shuts.

That’s three out, soon to be four assuming the medical is passed.
Credit to Pace for this restructure, it’s impressive and reassuring in equal measure (wage bill slashed in case we don’t go up).

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Heard from one of the youth lads (on the same train) there’s legs in Deli Ali pitching up at BFC.

Can't think of a less plausible VK or Pace signing. He probably meant Borehamwood F C.

Whether he plays tomorrow might give us an idea where Soton are with him. They might not want him cup tieing if they plan a recall.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 5:10 pmHoping the Tella situation can be resolved very soon, as Rodriguez is going through a spell where his form is nothing like it was pre November, and he missed an absolute sitter v Swansea which he invariably does when his confidence goes.Add that to his general fitness and it would be unwise to rely on him too much in the next 5 months. Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'm happy to have the players move on, but i doubt we are saving much money in the short term. Its not like the loaner clubs are flushed with cash and would pick up any significant portion of our players wages. We might get a small loan fee but i guess something is better than nothing.

I like the look of the Swedish centre-half we’ve been linked with.

It allows us to bring it some new potential first teamers who will be under no particular pressure to hit the road running.

I would agree its not just the money (although it should have been criminal for Dale Stephens to take a wage as little as he played).boatshed bill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 7:41 pmit's more than just a money saving exercise, though, isn't it?

Also, I think its a good gesture by the club as well, to allow players to move on and play, rather than have them languish on the bench/under23s.

Apparently, Charlotte FC top salary is £30k pw, same with Birmingham, Huddersfield 27k, Peterborough is £6k.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 7:30 pmI'm happy to have the players move on, but i doubt we are saving much money in the short term. If you look at that, there’s a direct correlation between what they earn here & where they’ve gone. It obviously depends how hard a bargain we’ve driven, but entirely feasible that they’re all off the wage bill in their entirety (Long certainly will be given he’s permanent, although we may have offered a pay off).

The brother of the Royal Antwerp player ‘Balikwisha’ who commented on Manuel Bensons Instagram - saying, “save me a seat” which caused a few supporters to believe he was singing for us, has just turned Al-Dikhal inside out on the flank.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'd suggest that won't be in their thinking.... he won't be going back to help with a cup run. If he's going back to save their season, then it wouldn't make sense to play him in a cup game and risk injury.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Not from me mind, I've always thought Jack Cork has a place in our side.....think it might have been our previous manager who had other thoughts !

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Besiktas reported to be looking to terminate Deli Alli's season long loan.
Perhaps Deli's head has been turned by Wout waxing lyrical about the Clarets, how much he liked the place and how much he would like to get back for the Championship trophy and another season in the Premier with a team destined for the top.
On the other hand, four fingers and a thumb.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
There’s still a good player in there somewhere with Dele Alli, but his confidence is obviously shot to pieces.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Maybe Kompany could give him confidence and get him back to his best. He seems to know what to say and how to handle players. Wouldn't lose anything by getting him on loan for the rest of the season. Looks like he played in the Premier at the beginning of the season so couldn't go anywhere else anyway.

Too much money too young. Don't touch with a barge pole. Big risk to our team spirit. Rather get Tyler Morton on loan.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
No longer fits our profile of buying young, up and coming players. Busted flush. Would be amazed if we went anywhere near him.

Charlotte FC have posted a video on twitter with a cup of 'American' tea (gnats pee and no milk) keep being filled and then emptied. Haven't shown the player but it has to be Westwood.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Absolutely.
At 1 point I thought he was the player that we should be building the England team around.
His partnership with Kane at Spurs was excellent at that time.

Dele Ali was a fantastic player, still probably is to be honest, but something isn't right, and the first person to spot it was Mourinho (which he got pilloried for at the time)

Alli was absolutely incredible for a time. That goal he scored against Palace away in 2016 is one of the best Premier League goals in the last decade or so.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Alli had a difficult childhood by the sounds of it. Moved around a lot, mum struggled with alcohol and ended up moving in with the parents of a teammate when he was 13. By the time he was in his late teens, he’d broken off communication completely with his parents and stopped wearing the family surname on his shirt.
I’m not a psychologist and he’s not the only footballer to have had a difficult childhood, but I reckon that’s a lot of baggage to carry with you whilst trying to perform a sport at the top level in the public gaze.

Whilst lots of people come through these childhood difficult times even when the person seems on an even keel it doesn’t take much to blow them of course
For every Norman Wisdom there are usually many more who spend their lives struggling with their upbringing as I imagine can be seen right now with a certain Harry
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Not sure on the quality of these sources, but a bit more on Al-Dakhil and Surridge:
Burnley are expected to complete a deal for STVV defender Ameen Al-Dakhil imminently, with the youngster set to play his ‘last game’ for the Belgian club this evening (last night)
Kompany has ‘always been impressed’ by the ‘enormous potential’ of the 20-year-old who is likely to be at the game at the Meuse this evening before then making his move to Burnley.
How much the Clarets will pay for the centre-back isn’t mentioned but it will presumably be closer to the €5m that STVV were demanding in the summer.

£3.5m ace and striker in: Predicting Burnley’s XI with 3 new signing
The lack of depth in the number nine role is, perhaps, the only missing piece in Kompany’s Burnley jigsaw. Jay Rodriguez has nine goals in 19 starts. But Ashley Barnes, at 33, is no longer the defence-bothering force of old. Halil Dervisoglu, meanwhile, may be re-called by Brentford after only 59 minutes of Championship football.
Sam Surridge, then, would be welcomed with open arms at Turf Moor. Specifically, by one-time Swansea City team-mate Conor Roberts.
“He’s a talented lad,” Roberts tells the Burnley Express of Surridge, the £2.2 million Nottingham Forest benchwarmer. “He’s obviously got quality, otherwise he wouldn’t have been at the clubs he has.
“He might come in and score the goal that gets us promoted. You never know.”

You forget that Dele Alli is only 26. There is every chance that in the right environment he could become an outstanding player again. Appreciate there is nothing to suggest we are after him but I’d not be against it if we were. Someone somewhere will get a tune out of him.

All of this might have nothing to do with the huge drop-off in his performances, but you’ve got to be extremely resilient to park this kind of stuff and keep maintaining high standards.

I haven't forgotten anything!
He was never consistent enough to be the best U21 player in England never mind Europe, arguably.
Yes he had obvious skill, some lovely touches at times, but never on a consistent basis which ultimately, along with his reported attitude problems, led to him dropping down the pecking order at his club.
