I can’t see lack of playing time being an issue to be honest. If he does come in he’ll be backup to THB and Beyer anyway, at least initially.burnmark wrote: ↑Tue Jan 10, 2023 10:01 pmNixon:
Burnley are backing away from a deal for Swedish centre half Albin Ekdal - leaving Dutch side Groningen favourites for his signature.
The Clarets were investigating the move for the Djurgaardens defender as cover but are unwilling to commit.
Ekdal has talked of the Burnley move but now Groningen are set to pounce for him.
The factors against the Burnley move are Ekdal’s lack of recent game time and the fact he would need to have a work permit taken to appeal.
If there is any ring of truth to this it could be to do with the work permit (thanks Brexit).

Take Nixon with a pinch of salt, he’s been bang on the money with things for us in the past but then also been way off. Then he puts nothing stories out there like the barnes one at the weekend ‘Burnley will only let barnes go if they sign a striker’ that’s hardly breaking news

That would be bad news with the league and potential cup games coming up. You also have to factor in when luck is not going your way that Beyer could get injured too123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 10:01 amWith rumours THB could be out a couple of months a new cb is important
Do the rumours suggest what the injury to THB might be ?

Regarding Delap, his dad has just left the club. Just noticed Percy has said that isn’t a factor but you have to wonder. Not worked out for him at all there but some of the more sensible Stoke fans I work with think there’s a player in there. They reckon he will be far more successful at his next club.
I’d certainly be having a look. Definite potential there.

Aye. Seems have been pretty quiet. Some were calling him a cheat code for the championship before the season began.
He seemed to do well playing for City (albeit I could probably grab a couple of goals in that team), but it's be interesting to see how he would do in our system.

I have no idea how transfermrkt reaches these figures but it’s fair to say they are never accurate

Google translate suggests the article says 'has a market value', rather than being available at that price. I imagine the writer has Googled Zaroury market value which takes you straight to this website https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/pl ... ss-zaroury.
If they want to give us 25m and loan him back to us for the remainder of the season, that might make him more available...

SSN Reporting Wout deal is agreed:
Weghorst deal agreed in principle
Manchester United have a “deal in principle in place” with Burnley to sign striker Wout Weghorst.
United are still waiting for the termination to be agreed between Burnley and Besiktas before any deal can be finalised.
United are conscious of the complexities of the deal as it requires the alignment of three clubs and are keeping all other options open if the transfer doesn’t come to fruition.

I've seen Delap a few times on Sky and he's never done anything to justify his place in the Stoke side. He's played the equivalent of 15 full matches so he should have settled down by now. He's 19 years old so that's in his favour but he doesn't appear ready at this level yet.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Probably depends on whether there is a recall clause. If there is - I would say no.
That's the reason for WW issue. If we could recall him back to Burnley knowing Man Utd wanted him, we would have just done that and Besiktas could do nothing about it. The lack of recall means that we can't recall him and end the contract with Besiktas. Therefore we have to do something to break the contract if we want Man Utd to have WW and Besiktas are clearly seeing an easy payday using the "he's too valuable to us so you need to make it worth our while" card
If Brentford haven't put a recall clause in then I would imagine we would have the ability to do what Besiktas has done and insist.
