Bart was always his first choice last summer, but failed at the last hurdle, hence Muric being welcomed to the club with a Bart Simpson video...it will be interesting what happens with Muric but we don't pay 16m for someone not to play
Some folk on here would have you believe Muric is worth more than 16m.
If they were right, sell him and replace him with Bart.
I wouldn’t trust Muric in the Premier league.

Verbruggen will start as number 1 if we're paying big money for him.

Are you genuinely a Claret??... Quite a few little signals I'm picking up suggest maybe you're not.
A big percentage of your input seems to be intended to undermine young players in possibly our best team since 73/4/5

I am delighted if we sign Verbruggen-it just shows how closely VK is plotting our PL return. The great majority of the PL keepers are sensational, with most clubs having exceptional No 2 and at times No 3 keepers too. Muric seems to have grown on our fans in the second half of the season. But in this period we lost one league game only, had over 60% possession in almost all these games and Muric had probably less to do than any other keeper in the Division. It was also the Championship. His distribution is phenomenal but the PL will quickly test his skills-he is not dominant in coming for crosses or punching, and he is not as good a shot stopper as many PL keepers. A good PL keeper can earn you 5-10 points easily in the PL, more than some strikers can, and help us avoid relegation. PL teams do their research and will expose any potential individual weaknesses. VK will want to get BV in quick so he can experiment with pre season friendlies, so that we start the new season with our strongest keeper.. This would pave the way for Peacock Farrell to be sold rather than loaned. He has a good CV with his international appearances and could do well in the Championship.
As for Tella I am not sure Saints can get out of him what we did. He blended so well with Benson, Maatsen, Zarroury , Barnesand Jay. He may not get that support at Saints. The reason we got him last year was because Saints did not see the potential in him and it would be such a shame to see him failing to get a regular start there.Would love him to join us permanently as VK and Bellamy will take him to the next level

It’s a difficult one for Tella right now I’m not sure he even starts for Southampton.
Got to imagine Southampton sell a few forwards first

VK has said that because he hadn't played for a lot of the season up to us signing him was the reason why he got the game time he did.
We can only play 11 on the field at once and given the season we have had, I am not sure him not being given a start is anything to worry about at this stage.

Reminds me a little of the Muric clips before he signed. Lots of good stops but rarely holds onto the ball.

I have a feeling that he will stay with Southampton and probably regret it. They won’t get promoted and will not be the player that he was for us.
He is contracted to Southampton and I reckon he'll get plenty of game time and score plenty of goals.

How can he regret it if he's not made the decision and it is out of his hands... The only reason he doesn't sign for us is if they play hardball and have priced him out of the market and we think we can get better value elsewhere.

Having seen that video and having gone to the Ethiad to see us beaten 6-0 then based on that video I suspect Verbruggen would have saved 3 or 4 of their goals. A 2-0 defeat would have made it very respectable, away to the best team in Europe. This guy will make us a better team and earn us points

Absolutely.
The only players I’ve been critical of are:
Muric - did well in the back half of the season when not under pressure. Going to be battered with shots next season and I don’t think he’ll be up to it.
Foster - miles off the pace in the Championship.
Rodriguez - finished at Championship level, let alone having to make the step up again to Prem.
Give me a strong argument how I’m wrong on the above and I’ll listen to you. Don’t just defend them because they play for us.

I just don’t see the need to have to defend or big up all our players on a message board when they clearly aren’t up to the mammoth task ahead of us in the Premier League.

Did you have your eyes closed for the Sheffield United game?
When a team are on top of us next season, and make no mistake many will be, they’ll load the box with crosses and punish us.

It was a Danny Dyer reference, to be fair.
I agree that Foster has in the main been underwhelming, but it’s far too early to write him off just yet.

I really don’t agree with this sentiment.
I thought he was better but not massively better. Even with the games towards the end of the season I still thought he looked relatively weak in his box and struggled to command the box. He’s still very young though.
If Verbruggen is an improvement (certainly looks a better shot stopper) then we have got ourselves another top keeper.

I agree with Foster. I don’t think he’s been poor, just underwhelming.
I also think you need to add a little context when looking at him. He’s always played for teams that break with pace on the counter. He came to Burnley where they play a much more possession based style.
6 months of bedding in and getting used to the style will benefit him.

I thought Foster looked really good at Bristol City until he went off with concussion.
Clearly has a lot to prove but I’m sure he will benefit from a pre season with us.

Couldn’t agree more CT! Thought Foster played well at Bristol and it was a shame to see him go off injured……although it did allow Jay to come on and he also played really well.

How can you possibly conclude that a goalkeeper you have never actually seen play could have prevented 4 of the goals scored?
Qualified it by saying "based on the evidence of that video". Christ lets get excited with some of the quality we are looking to bring in. Wasn't that long ago that the names we were looking at were Dale Stephens, Joe Allen, Andy Carrol, Ashley Young. VK will know everything about this keeper having managed him, plus he has watched Muric all season. Theres a reason why he could be our record signing

I thought Foster looked really good at Bristol City until he went off with concussion.
Clearly has a lot to prove but I’m sure he will benefit from a pre season with us.
Me too. I thought he looked excellent in his last few games.

i totally agree that we should be excited about the possible incoming players, but that does not automatically allow unnecessary criticism of our current squad members.
Pointing out the failings of one doesn't enhance the ability of the other.

It's quite exciting. But no need to make stupid comments off the back of it. I mean, how can you possibly conclude we'd have only conceded two. Crazy

I don't understand your point. I was referring to clips of Muric before he signed and he didn't play against City.

He was significantly better in the second-half of the season. How can you not see that
I thought some of his worse games came in the second half of the season,
Especially against Watford and QPR where I personally think he had his two worst games in a Burnley shirt.
However like i said I think he was better in the second half. Just knowhere near as good as some would make you think

Calm down -its my opinion. I was at the Ethiad game and every time a goal went in I wondered if Peacock Farrell could have done better with 5 of the goals-then I saw the footage of Verbruggen and thought how good he was on ONE ON ONES, and in coming out bravely.

It wasn’t too long ago that we had 3 England international keepers on our books.
Having too many good players for a position isn’t the worst problem for us to have.
