With the Man Utd signing of Mount, there are only 4 clubs left to make their first signing.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 01, 2023 10:14 pmAccording to Football Insider Everton have now enquired about Tom Heaton. Maybe Everton are under pressure financially to sell Pickford
Wolves, Fulham, Sheffield Utd & Everton.
Will Everton be the last ? Common theme being the manager, Or will a swap with Pickford count.

Probably because his wage will be greater than a buyer will pay, therefore a settlement will be needed.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 11:42 amWe seem to be better at loaning than selling and getting cash back for our club

I see that Aster Vranckx's loan spell officially ended with AC Milan last night - hopefully that means now if we're still interested, things can progress.

I like the sound of Lakonga. Vrancz, as well?

Am I the only one not feeling excited about lokonga
, this isn't a moan I'm just curious as to why some folks are seeing something completely different to what I'm seeing. I know it's all about opinions so please I'm here to be educated.

Sounds like a South American dance.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
Fair enough. I’ve personally not seen a single minute of him so can’t comment. The only thing I will say is that if VK rates him, which he clearly does, then that’s good enough for me!louieollie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 6:38 pmAm I the only one not feeling excited about lokonga, this isn't a moan I'm just curious as to why some folks are seeing something completely different to what I'm seeing. The Lokonga story is just a rehash of Nixon’s piece. Looks to me as though we want him permanently and Arsenal are fine with that, but the player isn’t sure after a couple of disappointing moves previously.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
If we end up with Beyer, O'Shea, Tella, Maatsen, Vranckx, Lokonga, Clarke, Flemming, Butez it will have been a good window. Guess I can hope.

Lokonga was absolutely tremendous at Anderlecht. VK described him as the next Toure. He can pass, tackle, dribble, score. Just exactly what we need. Big strong lad too.

Not sure it would be. Can see us loaning Maatsen and Lokonga. Butez 5/6m. Beyer 8m. Flemming and Clarke 25-30m. Vranckx 10m. O’Shea 7m. Tella 15. 70 there, probably still pushing it.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 7:03 pmBe looking at c.£100m there...cant see that level of expenditure happening

To be fair, think Wolves need to sell and he was out of favour there.
Interesting to see how he does at Brentford. Maybe harsh but we went down with him in our side and Wolves were heading that way until Dawson came in.

Not every player suits every team, some need a team that utilises their strengths. Kompany knows his man, so if he thinks he is good enough, it's good enough for most.louieollie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 6:38 pmAm I the only one not feeling excited about lokonga, this isn't a moan I'm just curious as to why some folks are seeing something completely different to what I'm seeing. I tend to agree but I suspect Flemming would be earmarked for a forward/ false 9 role dropping between the lines.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 7:04 pmIf we get that il be happy but can’t help feeling we are lacking goals if that’s the only business we do

I think Lokonga will join on a loan with option/obligation to buy if we stay up. Frees up some more funds to strengthen the squad this summer , whilst tying him down at the end of the loan deal.
I’m not sure that we will set a “budget” of sorts this summer. If the board see an opportunity that fits the model then I see them taking it.

I’d have thought Bees would have asked Ben Mee about Collins.
Stephen Ireland is his agent and has a good rep for looking after his young lads. Collins has done very well by him. £23m players aren’t paid peanuts.

With the rumoured\likely transfers do you think we will line up something like this:
Butez
Roberts, O’Shea, Beyer, Maatsen
Vrankx, Cullen, Lokonga
Benson, Foster, Zaroury

I can see the rows of the CFS stand going alternate directions singing “let’s all do Lokonga”.

I must admit I’m struggling to fit Flemming into the starting eleven as well

Vranckx and Lokongo aren’t 8s so I reckon it’ll be one of them with Cullen then someone like Flemming/Brownhill further forward. Having said that VK changes things all the time so it’ll be pretty fluid throughout the season anyway!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 9:34 pmI must admit I’m struggling to fit Flemming into the starting eleven as well

Maatsen? Unfortunately I doubt it.

I would love it if we could get him back.
To me LB and CM are the priority positions we need to sort out.

Nixon says Coventry are trying and good chance for McNally. Doesn't say whether it's a loan or buy.

Yep, so technical and natural on the ball, makes the right decisions, great vision of the game for a young player. If they can loan him with an option that would be perfect. He's a joy to watch. Needs to feel confident and receive the ball alot to excell. Probably the reason why arsenal is a bit too much for him at the moment. He's not a player that does the dirty work for someone else, at Anderlecht he had Cullen alongside him to do that. He's the guy that can receive the ball even under pressure and will always do something good with it. His work rate improved alot over the years I'd say he's ready now to start in the prem.burnley007 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 02, 2023 6:59 pmLokonga was absolutely tremendous at Anderlecht. I think you will be surprised. Cullen will no doubt play a big part this season but I think VK wants more ability and physicality in that part of the pitch

On the 'From the BeeHole End' podcast, they were suggesting VK may go to a back 3. Which would explain the Fascination with CBs
