I think I can live without Maatsen-he would not be the answer to the defences lapses we have made this season. On the other hand Tella could well have been a handful and exposed a few defences of teams we have played, and allowed Foster even more freedom. He is the one we have missed
A handful like Koleosho, oderbert, Amdouni, foster, Larsen, Zaroury, Berge and Tresor/Ramsey/Benson/Darko/Obafemi (when they find their feet/regain full fitness)

Not yet we haven't but the starting transfer fee agreed between Manchester City and Burnley for Trafford was £15 million but if all add-ons are triggered the deal will be a total of £19 million, so In theory it's £19 million and that's why media and fan's alike are quoting that figure

As said a million times, if we end up totalling £19m for Trafford we’ll have done very well as we'll have stayed up several times, loads of clean sheets and appearances for club and country. As it stands we’ve paid £14m or thereabouts.

How much would you expect the u21 keeper to go for these days?

Why does every thread turn to a thread of folk that reckon they know more about goalkeepers than VK and his management team??

Odd, we’re very lucky to have two young hungry and talented keepers. We’ll need them both throughout the season but both are work in progress and require development over next few years.

One fits our way of playing better

One is an all round better keeper

The other plays week in week out some how

Not an ardent Traff defender just a supporter who knows we have two good young keepers that will both improve and both contribute.

Not every issue needs to be divisive as seems the trend. Traff or Muric? Happy clapper or miserable pessimistic ‘realist’…. Etc

VK and team have made their choice, Muric will have his opportunities.

There’s not that many posts or people defending Trafford.

The reason it’s beyond boring is primarily you.
Nobody is in any doubt as to which keeper you prefer so why do you post on it every day and on multiple threads ?

And let me save you the bother - yes I’m being passive aggressive.

Manchester City and West Ham are expected to try to sign Dutch left-back Ian Maatsen if the 21-year-old, who has also been linked with Barcelona, does not sign a new Chelsea contract beyond the end of the season

We have enough wingers , we need full backs. Like it says on the other thread ,Chelsea don’t play him as a full back because they know his strengths are not in that position.

Agent talk from an agent who's player isn't getting game time and less than 12 months on his deal.
If he ends up at left back for City or Barcelona next season I'll eat my hat

Mentioned a few times on here, I expect maatsen to have CL winners medals. At his age, he's fantastic. The 30 million quoted might not be accurate, but it would still be a decent investment. He's massively underrated on here

I’d be going back in with a lower offer. It’s absolutely crucial that we have him or someone of his Ilk through the door first day of Jan

It seems it became absolutely clear in the summer that Maatsen did not want to join us. I don't see how that would possibly change in January. In fact, his personal case for not joining us has surely got stronger.

He turned us down. I'm not sure he ever had any intention of coming back, even less likely if we are fighting relegation.

Whether it’s him or not, we absolutely need to strengthen the full back areas as I believe this is the key reason for this seasons change of style

Would be a fantastic signing in January, just a question of if he's hurt too many Burnley fans' feelings by wanting to play for Chelsea.

I doubt there would be many who'd be against it. He'd be a great signing in most people's eyes I'm sure. Just feels like there's no chance of it happening.

I think he’d be a great signing for the longer term, but I wouldn’t really want him to displace Charlie in a defence lacking experience. He’s our best defender imo and defending was certainly not Maatsens strength.

Would still like him though.

I like Charlie and I was one who insisted that Kompany should be selecting him. But I would definitely still have wanted Maatsen here but that ship has sailed I reckon for now at least.
