Great officiating. Only a yard offside so they had to make sure.

Joy of joys the expert commentary of Dublin then having to listen to Joe Cole.

This level does seem a step too far for Watkins.

How the feck is that a free kick??
Re: North Macedonia v England
But in his appearances for England so far he's not really shown any good awarness that he's done for Villa.

Macedonia playing really well. They know how to kill a game against what might be regarded as quality opposition. Vinny should be watching this and picking up some tips.

Even a lousy international gives you a chance to criticise our manager...
Well done with that.
Re: North Macedonia v England
Maguire is a serial fouler in both boxes ,puts his hands into the face of a defender but Dublin can’t see it.
Re: North Macedonia v England
Not sure what's worse, the Ref or Dion Dublin on comms.

File under, " Where did they get this Muppet from ? " ....
Re: North Macedonia v England
Watkins is at his best when there’s some space in behind to exploit. I’d say he’s one of the best in the league at channel running. See Villa’s first against us as an example. Rarely gets that when he plays for England against deep defensive blocks like this.

In the other group game Ukraine just been denied a definite penalty in the last minute against Italy, a Ukraine winner sends them through and Italy out.

Imagine a scenario where Dion Dublin is on co-comms alongside Jonathan Pearce.
Re: North Macedonia v England
Did I just hear Comms say Kane is dropping "Deeperer" brings back memories of "James Alexander Gordon" and the Footy results ... "Bolton Wanderers" and "Wolverhampton Wanderers"

France must be very worried about meeting us in the Euros.
Re: North Macedonia v England
Agreed completely, this planting a seed in the referees head by intentionally showing him a freeze frame FIRST then a slow motion replay is absolute rubbish. Just manipulation at its finestVegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 8:41 pmI've (and others) have been saying for a good while that VAR should not be explaining anything to a ref. If the VAR thinks a decision is wrong then send a message to the watch that just informs them to check the screen. If the on field ref sees the clear and obvious error within 3 full speed replays then change the decision, if he doesn't then stick to their on field. VAR sucks balls because of the way they are using it

Re: North Macedonia v England
So Burnley aren’t playing for two weeks because England has to play two meaningless games? I know we’re fortunate to be through ages ago but what an absolute boring thing the international break is.
They should just scrap these mid season breaks, condense the league season and play all the qualifying games over a 2-3 week period at the end of the season.

Have one or two breaks during the season and after it before a condensed leauge as well.
Injury rate would reduce and the intensity would increase - and the qualifying games would then be a spectacle as well.
Right now it's absolutely dross.

Between 8 and ten games over 2-3 weeks?
Yeah, just what footballers need after a long hard and now condensed season!

Re: North Macedonia v England
There has to be a better way to fit these qualifiers in, low energy players don’t want to get injured.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:12 pmBetween 8 and ten games over 2-3 weeks?

8 games, 4 weeks. Sounds fine to me.
I’m biased, I just hate how it keeps interrupting the league season, I have little interest in international football, it’s low energy turd across the board.

Oh it's 4 weeks now, is it?
I doubt the players or the FA would want that after a long PL, domestic cups and European club competition season.

Re: North Macedonia v England
No Southgate apologists yet?
“Yeah, but we didn’t lose”
It was north Macedonia ffs
“Yeah, but it was just a learning exercise”
Will Southgate EVER learn anything?
“Yeah, but we showed some character to come from behind”

“Yeah, but we always do well in the tournaments”
We play “frightened football” in tournaments, and set up every game to not lose.
“Yeah, but at least he’s thinking outside the box”
Because he can’t think INSIDE the box…. He’s just guessing!!!
“Yeah, but he’s got us further than anyone else since Sir Alf”
He did, but with what he’s had available to him, he should’ve walked away with silverware. Losing the euro final v THAT Italian side was unforgiveable.
THE most talented young group of players that any England manager has had in my lifetime, and the FA hands them over to this utter clown.
GS and his buffoonery, combined with the FA’s obsession with employing managers based entirely on how many sound bites and cliches they can rattle off, has finished my interest in international football. Southgate’s a fraud, stealing a living from an organisation more concerned about having Mr Clean running the show than someone who could actually get a tune out of this amazing group of young players.

Having multiple 2 week slots out for internationals makes the season longer and more of a slog!
