For those of us who have played football at any level, a game of 11 a side on a full size pitch is completely different to 5 a side.

We just didn't seem to know how to play this format or have enough players capable of playing it.

John Durnin looked a world beater at the soccer sixes tournaments, it was a game his was suited to.

Hmm, I think I’ll give the rest of the tournament a miss.

Not sure getting thrashed is a good PR stunt, but good luck to them.
didn't stop us doing it last season !

What does it say ? That a Burnley fan has grafted a career out of nothing and been given a great opportunity. You have to be next level sad to criticize a Burnley fan representing the club
And to be fair he's not a bad player

Emmanuel Ledesma played in England for a few years. Most notably for Middlesbrough.
Usually with these charity teams it's more down to who is in the best shape than who's the best talent.

aye, next year I suspect we will take a much stronger team, Wrexham have Dave Jones and George Boyd so I'll deffo watch them play
I think the commentators said at the start that we’d already confirmed for next year?

Does anyone know the rules on who you can and can’t take? I assume academy players are not allowed?

Not that winning really matters but if the idea is to build interest in the club and brand abroad, getting thrashed isn’t the best look either!

yeah I've no idea but I suspect it will be restrictive. I think we massively underestimated the quality required or completely under prepared, be reet.

edit: I think the commentator said the Tournament has been confirmed for May (not sure if he was or wasn't referencing us)

Ah, I see.

Yep, didn’t look at the races at all. Maybe an underestimation of the ability we’d need to take or maybe just not trained together enough.

I'm watching this Bayern game, you can't compare the standard to the game we just played in - there are obviously going to be some good teams

Oh well, not sure what our game plan was then. I’d have thought JJ and the club would’ve wanted to be competitive.

Let’s hope the women’s team are better

I see the Castore "technical" material is performing well - as per Villa of last season by the looks of it!

Yeah they have acres of space, quick one touch passing and always have a free man - we're one paced, no passing lanes, no movement off the ball... Turgid!

I was quite looking forward to it. Not bothered about winning if we played some decent attacking football but were awful

We defend so deep, don’t mark and don’t close anyone down. It’s like we’ve just started to play the game or something

5 or 7 a side, for some reason seems to be more knackering than 11 a side.

How do you come to that conclusion ?

If we weren't involved in it then we would be like pretty much every other club in this country that was in it, unaware it was even taking place.

It's not actually proper football with out first team playing in it. Look at who is playing in it and accept it's a bit of fun

This TST tournament has yet again put Burnley FC and JJ WATT on the American Sports map.
There are thousands of Americans who had never heard of Burnley FC 24 hours ago.
Any publicity is good publicity.

I wouldn’t say that.

JJ’s social media and the TST channels have been awash with BFC content and will be for several days when otherwise it’d be quite a quiet time. They’ll definitely have brought Burnley to more eyes over in the states and anything JJ is involved with will bring positive media coverage for us. From a brand building perspective it’ll have achieved its goals.

I did think we’d be looking to field a more competitive team though and probably not the best way to entice people to watch a Burnley match… come watch us, we pass it around the back slowly a lot and had zero goal threat

Be interesting to see if they bother entering next year and if they do if they take it more seriously.

It might be embarrassing if we'd gone all out to win it. I suggest that by playing JJ Watt we didn't take it too seriously and neither should the fans.
