Is RVN a short term appointment IF it happens ? will he be classed as the same class as Lampard, gerrard, rooney etc etc even a "fresh forwarding coach" like the leicester guy gets the chelsea job !!!!

Judging from this boards history most are expecting a VK style season coming up with apparently a much better team/squad so god knows what the expectations are ? So if he flops this season he probably gets potted ? if we go up then unless we find vast fortunes to become a 14th to 18th team we yo yo - but still at that VK was a specular flop big time and still gets the Bayern job !!!!!!! so he probably gets a "bigger" job.

Enzo Maresca left City as Pep’s assistant to take over at Leicester. Kieran McKenna left United’s coaching team to take over at League One Ipswich. I don’t think it’s a very tough choice personally, we’ve got a very exciting team. But then it comes down to whether he has managerial ambitions or is happy just coaching.

I do agree but the fact he was a player at United there will always be the sentiment attached won’t there.

The issue if the above is true is how long we wait before deciding ourselves right we have to move on now

If you believe that bookmakers are taking bets of £1000+ from punters on these types of novelty markets it is obviously you who hasn’t a clue how bookies operate. The reason that Tory MP’s were only winning modest amounts on the date of the next General Election is because bet limits are in place. It only takes a modest amount to affect these markets because only small stakes are allowed.
Are the markets probably a more accurate guide than a lot of the stuff posted on this thread then probably yes.

I don’t see many other inspiring candidates, I’d rather we took a gamble on another rookie than give the likes of Robins, Rosenior or Corberan a job. Don’t get me wrong, those 3 have done decent jobs but nothing special, the very good managers tend to get promotion from the Championship without needing to spunk a fortune.

I also don’t buy this narrative that Corberan has been working with peanuts when they’re paying the likes of Jed Wallace £30,000 a week. Same with Robins who spent £15m+ on two forwards and didn’t even make the playoffs.

I find it astounding that some people assume the daily rags are accurate with info about our next manager yet are lying about other issues in society. The way some people pick and choose who and what to believe. Between Parker and Bellamy I'd go for Bellamy. Parker's football is a carbon copy of Southgate's, yes he'll get results in the Championship but purely due to having better players - he won't get them to perform to their full ability, it will be a close run thing - he's only just pulled off both his promotions, the luck could easily run out - and it'll be horrifically dull regardless.

I'll take the possibilities of Bellamy over the known quantity of Parker.

Totally agree RV.

Especially about the playing style, which in my view it’s very important we keep or evolve slowly. It mightn’t have worked in the Premier League but it did in the Championship so should at least start there.

I’d think this whoever the new manager was. Last thing we need is to abandon a playing style that the squad has been shaped around. Although if Bellamy gets it I’d like to see him tweak some elements and be more aggressive/attacking in our wing play, especially in the Championship with the players we have.

The first 2/3 pages of this thread has a wish list mainly comprised of Moyes, Cooper and Potter but now the harsh reality has sunk in as posters face the real prospect of a season of Championship football under Bellamy’s guidance. Top managers are seemingly out of reach and Bellamy is in situ (assuming he doesn’t prefer the Wales job if offered).

Depends on the process? If the process is interviewing all candidates twice (or more) then perhaps that only just concluded. If we wanted RVN as first choice (as speculation points towards) then we couldn’t have ‘easily appointed both by now’, as we were trying for someone else.

Unless those issues have continued in his time here (unlikely otherwise surely he’d be out the door and not considered for manager) then I’m not sure I hold stuff against him? If after this exhaustive process he’s viewed as the best man for the job then he’s beat a fair list of sound candidates to the role…

That's your opinion but I don't think it's based on real world experience.

As someone who has hired managers (internally and externally) I can honestly say that if I asked someone why they had left their previous management position, and they responded- Bullying allegations and it was investigated and found that I had created a toxic culture within my team then the interview would be an extremely short one. There is a big difference between being an assistant and having all the responsibility.

The golf club incident just shows what kind of character he is. All relevant in my opinion.

I also know that some people within the club don't like him, I'm sure some also do, but realistically being liked is pretty irrelevant as it's not a requirement for the position.
