Re: Next manager
Heard from someone linked to the club about the Danish manager earlier today but thought it was a bluff with him still at the Euros.
Why would he want to leave his national job for Burnley?
Re: Next manager
By joke names I mean like Ben Dover and Phil McCrackin. If I haven’t heard of them i immediately think someone is pulling my leg!KernowHouseClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 5:41 pmKaspar isn't a joke name, far from it he's the current Danish National Manager, highly respected by all accounts

Kasper Hjuland was the name I was given previously but he'd never been in the betting or anything before today

I don't think it can be him, because that would make Sultan right, and he is definitely a wind up merchant.

To be fair, I know him now I’ve been told but wasn’t aware of his name. Comes across as a class act.

Re: Next manager
I've just googled him didn't realise he was the manager when they got to the semi final and they've looked ok in these euros can't say I've heard much of him to be honest and his managerial career doesn't seem anything major to shout about

Re: Next manager
I'll be honest - I didn't know anything about him until I was given the name, so looked him up. I know we shouldn't take much notice of the betting but given his name had never appeared I was somewhat sceptical. I got it second hand but was told who it had come from and I felt it must be genuine.
Re: Next manager
CT do you know if his contract is up after the Euros or are we paying him out?
He's down to 6/1 already from not even being on the list but OGS is in at 5/1 when he hadn't been near either

Re: Next manager
that would be an unreal appointment if we somehow got him.
edit: looking at the salary reports we could probably comfortably double his too.
Where did our new assistant come from ?

Re: Next manager
Never heard of him. Makes sense with us bringing in a Danish assistant though.
Can anyone stating he's one hell of a manager etc tell us why he is such?

Re: Next manager
I think that would a very good appointment. But still, no real links yet.
Re: Next manager
To pour some water on the fire, his win percentage is pretty terrible. You would imagine a national team manager doesn't have to be constantly on the job like VK was, so I'm not sure how this fits.
But there is some money going on him for sure. They play tomorrow against Germany, so the expectation would be they lose.
That ties in with the timing of hoping to announce him next week.

Re: Next manager
Well, look at the way Denmark played at the last Euros for starters and how they played against England.
54 matches as Denmark Manager, 61% win record.
In his first stint at Nordsjælland they won their first ever Danish championship, despite having one of the lowest budgets in the league. He also guided them to the UEFA Champions League group stages.

The odds on him joining have probably shortened significantly just by Claret Tony stating he'd heard the rumour and people on here lumping on

Re: Next manager
How about Kasper Hjulmand as head coach and OGS as his assistant

Re: Next manager
In true Burnley fashion, he probably is our man. Denmark now proceed to win the Euros. Spurs promptly sack their manager and he takes the job. We appoint Parker.

Would be really be interviewing for the job while concentrating on the Euros?
Won’t he want a break post Euros?
Both the above case some doubt on this for me.

“This is a third major tournament for the 52 year old Hjulmand, who led Denmark to semifinals of Euro 2020. The former Lyngby and Nordsjaelland manager replaced Thomas Tuchel as Mainz boss in 2014 but lasted just 8 months with the Bundesliga club”.
Another writes
“Attack minded Kasper Hjulmand replaced pragmatist Age Hareide in slightly controversial circumstances and was thrust in at the deep end at Euro 2020. Denmark made the Semis, following that up with their best finish at a World Cup in 20 years”.

Jurgen Klopp is a fan:
One of those is Jurgen Klopp who once told Allgemeine Zeitung: "Kasper, an extremely personable, pleasant guy, made an outstanding impression on me. What we discussed about soccer tactics wasn't just fun, it was sensational.

I can imagine that if he does end up being appointed as manager that the Pies contract will be cancelled and it will be Danish pastries at H/T.

Re: Next manager
Well, he certainly guided a lesser team to a very good performance against tournament favourites England the other day.
This does all seem to make sense with the frankly bizarre Assistant Manager appointment the other week. It’s hard to say ‘brilliant, he’s great, get him in’ when we only have a couple of tournaments where we could really recognise his work - but he seems a classy type and hopefully has some good irons in the fire in Scandinavia.
Maybe he’ll get Bruun-Larsen back too.

Re: Next manager
How many times, last week wasn't an assistant manager, he came is as First Team Assistant Coach, not even Assistant Head Coach. This deal was done weeks ago, agreed in principle before VK left with the anticipation Bellamy was leaving. He's just been added to the ranks, we appear to be going down the coach route so that we don't have all the coaches taken from the club when a Head Coach leaves.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jun 28, 2024 6:40 pmWell, he certainly guided a lesser team to a very good performance against tournament favourites England the other day.
