Does anyone else read these names slowly just to check it’s not a joke name? :lol:
Kaspar isn't a joke name, far from it he's the current Danish National Manager, highly respected by all accounts

Kasper Hjulmand, ex danish national manager
Heard from someone linked to the club about the Danish manager earlier today but thought it was a bluff with him still at the Euros.
Why would he want to leave his national job for Burnley?

By joke names I mean like Ben Dover and Phil McCrackin. If I haven’t heard of them i immediately think someone is pulling my leg!

I've just googled him didn't realise he was the manager when they got to the semi final and they've looked ok in these euros can't say I've heard much of him to be honest and his managerial career doesn't seem anything major to shout about

I'll be honest - I didn't know anything about him until I was given the name, so looked him up. I know we shouldn't take much notice of the betting but given his name had never appeared I was somewhat sceptical. I got it second hand but was told who it had come from and I felt it must be genuine.

He's down to 6/1 already from not even being on the list but OGS is in at 5/1 when he hadn't been near either

that would be an unreal appointment if we somehow got him.

edit: looking at the salary reports we could probably comfortably double his too.
Where did our new assistant come from ?

To pour some water on the fire, his win percentage is pretty terrible. You would imagine a national team manager doesn't have to be constantly on the job like VK was, so I'm not sure how this fits.

But there is some money going on him for sure. They play tomorrow against Germany, so the expectation would be they lose.

That ties in with the timing of hoping to announce him next week.

Well, look at the way Denmark played at the last Euros for starters and how they played against England.
54 matches as Denmark Manager, 61% win record.

In his first stint at Nordsjælland they won their first ever Danish championship, despite having one of the lowest budgets in the league. He also guided them to the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Won’t he want a break post Euros?

For what it’s worth here are a couple of snippets taken from Euro 2024 Previews

“This is a third major tournament for the 52 year old Hjulmand, who led Denmark to semifinals of Euro 2020. The former Lyngby and Nordsjaelland manager replaced Thomas Tuchel as Mainz boss in 2014 but lasted just 8 months with the Bundesliga club”.

Another writes

“Attack minded Kasper Hjulmand replaced pragmatist Age Hareide in slightly controversial circumstances and was thrust in at the deep end at Euro 2020. Denmark made the Semis, following that up with their best finish at a World Cup in 20 years”.

Well, he certainly guided a lesser team to a very good performance against tournament favourites England the other day.

This does all seem to make sense with the frankly bizarre Assistant Manager appointment the other week. It’s hard to say ‘brilliant, he’s great, get him in’ when we only have a couple of tournaments where we could really recognise his work - but he seems a classy type and hopefully has some good irons in the fire in Scandinavia.

Maybe he’ll get Bruun-Larsen back too.

How many times, last week wasn't an assistant manager, he came is as First Team Assistant Coach, not even Assistant Head Coach. This deal was done weeks ago, agreed in principle before VK left with the anticipation Bellamy was leaving. He's just been added to the ranks, we appear to be going down the coach route so that we don't have all the coaches taken from the club when a Head Coach leaves.

Reading that, he ticks a lot of boxes for us:
* Good with developing young players
* Plays attractive attacking football
* Good at working under tight budgets
* Played and coached in America
* Contacts within the game
* Acts with dignity

After reading that, yes please.
