I seem to recall there was great interest/fear in VK's half time team talk - so to carry on the spirit of things that we like to see leading up to the potential appointment - here is a half time team talk whilst managing Bournemouth.

Pretty good interview here that gives a bit more insight into him as a person and manager

Have my doubts and am underwhelmed but hopefully he can prove the doubters wrong

Also that Taylor was nailed on for Everton.
Lucky I didn’t lump on Lampard, but I did fall for the bo Hendrikson link and stuck a tenner on him at 100/1

I don't think it will be Parker but if it is maybe, he is the only one who wants the job?DCWat wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 7:57 pmCertainly wouldn’t have been my choice and I’m a little surprised that we’ve not opted for more of a name, considering the apparent approach of ALK.
At least we have a manager with a track record of getting teams promoted from the Championship.
Like him or not, enjoy his football or not, we have to give him a fair crack of the whip. He’s inherited a squad with potential, let’s just hope he can do what Kompany failed to do last season - turn them into a team.

I appreciate he doesn’t get the pulse racing, but I still don’t get the passion against him? Those against it are absolutely entitled to their opinion (although not supporting a new manager seems fairly out thereburnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 8:18 pmWhy?
That's just stupid. Like we should have no opinion on anything?? Parker is a disastrous choice, why should we support him?
Should we support Weghorst too?

Re: Next manager
If it is to be Parker then he is most certainly not first choice with the amount of time it’s taken to appoint.
He does have 2 promotions from this league but it would be a very underwhelming appointment.

According to you he's 'bombed' twice but you are still expecting him to be successful. Imagine that on your CV or application form?TsarBomba wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 8:01 pmWe’re overlooking the fact that Parker will be working with Henrik Jensen, which may help to evolve his style of play.
And Parker will also have a massive point to prove. He’s bombed in the Prem and also in Belgium. He may not have too many chances to manage in a top league again.
Not my first choice, but let’s get behind him.

My opinion is that we could make a better appointment than Parker, but the importance of this season is huge and getting on the back of somebody before he has even begun work is hardly going to help pull the club we support in the right direction is itburnley007 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 8:18 pmWhy?

Re: Next manager
That was my thinking (albeit via the Newcastle connection)
I don’t know who was on Parker’s staff and if they were the same people at Bournemouth & Fulham but having CB stay on who knows the players we have won’t be a bad thing

People learn more from mistakes than success. Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in the world have just appointed a manager who got tonked most weeks for a full season, so they clearly think that too…..Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2024 8:29 pmWhat will he have learned from getting beat most weeks? If he has any sense he will have a winner wardrobe. If he gets beat 9-0, the cardigan never see the light of day again. If he wins, it gets put into 'Winner Wardrobe'. This is then recycled until we win 46 out of 46.
Come on, it's not difficult.

Conversation has somewhat moved on since this afternoon but this should hopefully appease you. Esteve describes this weeks training as intense and high standard:

I love Esteve, by the way. Reading that has cheered me up. Everything you want to hear from a player.

Re: Next manager
Parker is a bit underwhelming but it definitely could be a lot worse. Felt the same way when we appointed Dyche.
He has great experience at getting Championship teams promoted. My main concern is that he always seems to **** the bed about 18 months after taking a job (less at Brugge).
Will back the new manager whoever it is.

Re: Next manager
Not my first choice but I need to keep reminding myself, that we are, to quote a famous manager, Burnley and not Barcelona. If it is Parker I hope he can build up a great understanding and respect with our players prior to the start of the season. Its something we appear to have lacked last season in the PL. I will be happy if he gets the best out of the team-at least we hopefully lose the stubbornes and poor team selections and substitutions that we constantly witnessed. If it is Parker I will be relieved we have not appointed Rosenior, Lampard, Pardew, Bruce, Pardew or Bellamy. The least he deserves is our initial backing and support,
Re: Next manager
Don’t get the negativity. He’s the only candidate who’s actually got two promotions from this league. Who did people seriously want.
Re: Next manager
I hope he has been told how many matches we have lost in the past 3 seasons in the league. We can't have someone coming in and ruining that

Re: Next manager
If it is Parker, there’s obviously nothing that us fans can do about it. Like it or not, we don’t choose the manager. So what do we do? We get behind him and the players of course. What’s the alternative? Vote with your feet and don’t attend ? What would that achieve?
Ask yourself these same questions . Give em all a chance and see what happens.
Honestly, I’m underwhelmed myself. 6 weeks to appoint a guy who was unemployed? He wouldn’t have been in my first 10 picks, but has obviously shown those that were carrying out the process of choosing our new manager, that he’s the one.
Do I think he’s gonna get us promoted this season? No I don’t. But I hope he can prove me wrong. UTC.

Re: Next manager
Exactly, the only other realistic candidates who I thought would do decent jobs were Corberan and OGS, but you can make a strong argument for Parker over both of them.
Edit - Robins added to the above.
The Danish manager might be good, but he's never managed a game in England so it would be a huge gamble and doesn't even look like he wanted the job.

True enough. Although I'm sorry to say, use of the bedwetting terminology is also something I'm convinced is limited to the UTC perennials.

I'm extremely underwhelmed and a little worried.
This smacks of the last turkey in the shop gamble by Pace. It doesn't tie in with the perceived image of a manager/head coach that ALK seem to desire. He's been sacked from all his jobs with the last one being after he lead a top Belgium club to 2 wins in 12 games.
The biggest one.....Why the hell has it taken so long to come up with Parker?
An element of desperation by Alan Pace here I think no matter what he or anyone else says.
I don't think he will last the season.
Unexciting times.

Parker hasn’t even had a chance yet, as a Burnley fan why would you not back a new manager.
Couldn’t stand Joey Barton for years, soon as he put on a Burnley shirt I backed him

Re: Next manager
I think the negativity stems from the other names we have been linked with and the duration of the process.
It's taken so long to appoint Parker he was obviously not first choice if it does turn out to be him.
It would suggest that the reports involving RVN and Man Utd are true and whoever else has turned us down and how far down the list Parker actually was we will never know.
Parker has a very good record in the Champ so he can hopefully hit the ground running.
