Not suggesting this is true but if he has been at the club this week, could Kasper be a DOF?ClaretInLeeds wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 10:52 amThe other candidate was Kasper Hjulmand and he was at Gawthorpe on Tuesday.
It looks like the club has gone for Parker over him, which I'm surprised at.

Exactly my thoughts. Parker might not be fashionable or the hipsters choice but he's got 2 champ promotions to his namejedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 11:08 amHjulmand was exciting, but only on paper. His club record is nothing to shout about and he knows zilch about the Championship.

You won't be happy with Parker then as, according to other teams fans and their local press, he faffs around with the ball and then sits on a 1.0 lead.

Re: Next manager
Taken from an article…..
Given Burnley are now in the second tier and will have their eyes on an immediate return, I would imagine he will revert to the former. Albeit 4-2-3-1 has good balance across the pitch, the style of play is slow. Watch Southgate’s England right now and it’s not far off Parker’s style. Slow, frustrating and lots of passing with little end product.
Reliant on Mitrovic, Fulham had tricky wingers around him, but sometimes it would be one step forward and two steps back. Parker liked to dominate the ball, however in the Premier League it was very much soak up pressure and play on the break, which didn’t really work very well.
He started tinkering with playing five at the back which gave Fulham more stability at the back, but almost nothing going forward, albeit this was against Premier League opposition.

Amazing if true.
Bournemouth under Parker finished second in the Championship whilst being the second highest scoring team and conceding the fewest number of goals.
Scoring the second highest number of goals sitting on a 1-0 lead is some achievement.

Worrying there’s no mention of Bellamy and Jackson in that tweet. I’ve somewhat come to terms with this but only if they’re part of the deal.

Re: Next manager
Look, 2 seasons ago we were the 21st best team, got promoted and started the season, let's say as 18th best team. Over the course of last season, the team ranked 20th, Luton, improved past Sheff U and ourselves. This meant we fell from 18th to 19th and subsequently got relegated. Let's say we start the season as 22nd, meaning we have to ensure that no teams improve past us, whilst we can potentially improve 1 place, hopefully, back to 21st again.
However it might take us until late in the season to do that. Very few teams lead from start to finish.
It is probably going to be painful for many as we may not be in the top two immediately, so expect plenty of complaints from those who think we are entitled to a trouble free season.

Can't imagine a manager thinking were one up here let's just faff about at the back I'm sure a bit more thought goes into it. Couldn't imagine a current Burnley team doing that.

Bournemouth under Parker didn’t do it either which is why they scored the second highest number of goals in the Championship that season, whilst conceding the fewest.

Indeed! And if you want fast attacking aggressive football you need players who are both quick and really good in transition. I'm not sure we have those players to be honest...!kentonclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 11:44 amIn the 2021/22 season that Bournemouth finished runners up behind Fulham they were the second highest scoring team and had the tightest defence conceding fewest goals.
A repeat of that this season and no fan should have any complaints.

Out of the 3 squads, Parker’s Fulham squad, Parker Bournemouth squad and the squad he’s going to inherit, which would you say on paper is the best, based on quality, depth, value?
I actually think our squad on paper is better than the 2 squads Parker has had in the championship before

Re: Next manager
I think the silver lining is that Parker is coming into the club without any backroom staff - Bellamy and Jackson staying, along with the addition of Jenson as a coach gives some nice balance and hopefully ensures that the footballing operation is a lot more 'democratic', for want of a better term.

Re: Next manager
I don’t give a toss about his previous record or style of play. I would expect him or any other capable manager to comfortably achieve promotion back to the Prem at the first attempt
We clearly have a far superior squad of players and anything less than promotion will be a failure by Parker and Pace
The bar has been set

I tell you what lads, he isn't getting my pecker up unduly but having said that, this team, or similar to it:
Muric/Trafford
Sambo Beyer Esteve Pires
Berge Cullen
Odobert Amdouni Koleosho
Foster
With all of the quality we have in reserve should really be cantering the league.
That's an embarrassment of riches tbh (at this level). A vaguely competent manager should do very very well with that side and I will at least concede he is at least a competent kind of guy.

The summer isn't over yet, but I have to agree, we do have an abundance of talent, all they need is someone to mould them into a team, regardless of formation.BigGaz wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2024 2:37 pmI tell you what lads, he isn't getting my pecker up unduly but having said that, this team, or similar to it:

The squad numbers need trimming, and we still have a glaring hole in the centre mid department, hopefully a leader on the pitch, so I can see quite a few departures. Hopefully a couple of more incoming. Just pray we don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.
A concern with Parker, and it would be the same with a lot of potential managers, is that the game has moved on a long way since he played it. I was struck last season by how much better teams were than 12 months earlier when we went down. We didn't hit any heights, but the bar had definitely been raised. If Parker gets us up, and he should, the gulf between the Championship and the Prem is wider than ever. A manager who isn't used to or prepared for it, is going to be found wanting. I hope he is a lot more open to advice than VK was.

I think the biggest difference between this season and the Championship season under Kompany is we probably can't afford a similar slow start if we want top 2. Luton and Leeds will be very strong for sure and I think there will be a couple more too. Parker really will have to hit the ground running

They have been linked with sheaf from Coventry for 6-8m, if they start spending that sort of money on players in the champ then expectations will be high
