Team for Luton
Re: Team for Luton
Problem is we're a long way beyond schedule with everything but now SP has arrived the rest of July should be very busy.

Think it’s likely we see quite a few changes but I do think this squad would be too good for the championship.
For me
Muric
Sambo O’Shea Beyer pires
Cullen Berge
Benson Odobert Koleosho
Foster
That is very aggressive - likely to play at least one more experienced/defensive player in the attacking midfield 3 - likely to be a brownhill or JBG.

Put JBG in for Benson and Esteve for O'Shea and that's a good line-up.

Re: Team for Luton
Selling Trafford and Muric could potentially bring in up to £40-45m. We could then bring in some more dependable keepers for much less, e.g. Rodak is on a free and Cooper at Plymouth is rumoured to be available for £4-5m.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 3:06 pmToo many links re: Trafford which suggest he's likely to go while Muric seems to have made it clear he wants to leave.
Then if we manage to get £25-30m for Odobert (fee is guesswork but I think that’s quite achievable for a 19 year old winger who has quite a few PL appearances under his belt - especially when you look at the going rate for other players who haven’t played in the PL) it will hopefully mean we have a chance to keep Berge who I think would be a huge player for us at this level.
If Tresor hasn’t reported back I’d be fining him as much as possible. Ship him out! Sell him to Saudi. They over-pay for players!
Re: Team for Luton
This all assumes that Muric doesn’t want to stay now Kompany is using his time to Spend in Munich

Re: Team for Luton
Cooper would be ideal, neither Muric or Trafford have the level of consistency we would need if promoted.
Maybe we should also look for a 30ish year old GK with top league experience .

Those fees for Muric, Trafford and Odobert don’t sound a million miles away. Believe one serious keeper option is Václav Hladky who played the full season last year for Ipswich. Although think he would be coming as a number 2.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 10:31 pmSelling Trafford and Muric could potentially bring in up to £40-45m. I wasn't aware that he hadn't reported back. From all accounts it was a deal we'd have pulled out of had we been able to and if he doesn't want to be here either, the sooner it ends the better.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 10:31 pm

Has it been confirmed Muric has decided not to come back for training ?
Re: Team for Luton
From what we have now
I’d probably play
Trafford
Roberts OShea Esteve Pires
Berge. Cullen
Brownhill
? ?
Foster
The 2 wingers who have trained the best / hardest start for me.
Tempted for Zaroury to be one as he knows the league and Luton away is arguably as tough as it will get.

Need to be a bit careful about this IMO before what appears to be pure speculation travels round the world as truth.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 7:40 amI wasn't aware that he hadn't reported back. Is there any evidence Tresor hasn't reported back, or that he doesn't want to be here? Clearly his first season did not go well and he wouldn't be human if he hadn't questioned his decision to join us at times, but if we leave that natural reaction aside is there any reason to believe he's not keen to try and set the record straight this season?

Muric has got to be worth £10-15m comfortably when you look at some of the fees keepers are going for. £10-15m for a keeper like him is relatively cheap!
That will bring circa £40-45m…..and it’s not “dreamworld”.

Good keeper. Interesting he would be coming as a number two though…. Heard any names of who they want as the new number one?LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 11:53 pmThose fees for Muric, Trafford and Odobert don’t sound a million miles away. The fees that I’ve mentioned are guesswork…but ‘educated’ guesses based on recent reports and other transfers and valuations of players of a similar standing. I think they’re realistic. There’s quite a few Burnley fans who don’t give the board much credit when selling players and believe that we will only get our money back at best which I personally think is complete rubbish.
Re: Team for Luton
Not disagreeing with COTC initial sentence at all. Also the rest, unless he is being a deliberate snide againclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 8:19 am30m would be brilliant business. I can see Trafford bringing 20m but anything above 5m for Muric would be a surprise.
But I find it strange how those values differ, yet I understand why they might. I am hesitant to state my opinion that Muric is a far better keeper right now than Trafford <even though I just did>, but this board has been completely split and that split is hardly 20/5. Just an observation

What I do see is both could leave
I have no idea on the team to face Luton. Sorry.

Cause I'd agree with the former but otherwise I couldn't take you seriously. We've amassed one of the biggest sets of wet wipes I can ever remember us having at any level, which I'm surprised at as one thing you can begrudgingly give VK is that he wasn't averse to a bit of the old argy bargy.

Already turned down a deal of £20m from Newcastle for Trafford.

What a strange question. When does the club ever say it’s turned down an offer for a player?
The club might yet sell for an initial fee of £20m but I bet the deal will have add ons taking it beyond that.

Yeah, I’m as in the dark as you except you seem to know exactly how much we’ll sell for judging by some of your comments!! You’re a funny guy!
I think you’d argue black was white reading a lot of your posts on this forum!
My report of the rejected bid came from journos reporting it (£16m rising to £20m I think). If you search on social media you’ll find them.

Re: Team for Luton
No idea (especially about the full backs) but I’ll have a go with squad as it stands :-
4-2-3-1
Trafford
Vitinho
Esteve
O Shea
Pires
Cullen
Berge
Odobert
Brownhill/JBG/Amdouni/Zaroury
Koleosho
Foster
I do have this strong feeling though that someone up top to share the burden with Foster will pay real dividends (J Rod/ Obafemi). Up to how Parker wants to play it I guess…

I thought it was fairly even for the 1st 45 minutes. Then we capitulated in 10 minutes halfway through the 2nd half. We also didn't have brownhill playing. So I suppose the argument is that we've been both good and bad with and without a proper centre forward. Maybe just focusing on that aspect alone won't answer the question....

Be absolutely gutted if as expected Muric leaves, but you can hardly blame him after his treatment last season. If Trafford goes as well then whatever people think we might need we definitely will need a bloody goalkeeper. If they both go we will be absolutely desperate.

I'll have a go at this but of course lots could change over the next couple of weeks.
NEW
Vitinho O'Shea Esteve Pires
Cullen Brownhill
Odobert Berge Koleosho
Foster
Luton are a physical team. Could do with the three CM's to compete.
Against other opposition I might drop Brownhill, have Berge in CM and bring in another attacker in the 10.
Interested to see how Scotty sees it.

New keeper as Traff will leave with Muric. I’ve heard Foster is likely to leave so I’ve gone with the new lad. Amdouni will have only just returned to training a week before so I’ve put him on the bench. Tresor is supposedly AWOL and expecting him to leave. Would love to put Odobert in there but fully anticipating he goes. Berge in there is more out of hope than anything. Be interesting to see how close we get.

Thought I'd bring this thread back up now we're only a week away.
Hladky

Foster
Subs include Benson Zaroury Hout Vitinho Beyer Agyei Massengo
Can't see Trafford playing. I'd probably have started him if all was well though.
