Stan - Blake
Cotterill - Duff
Coyle - can’t get excited about any!
Howe - Mee
Can’t argue with the other choices you’ve made - possibly Berge for VK

Re: Best Signing per Manager
Cotterill. That was a tough one. Both free signings, but Wade edged it with the Wembley goal. So many good signings from SC.

Actually, I think Duff cost £30k, so Wade definitely edges it.
Re: Best Signing per Manager
I always thought Paul Cook was Stan’s best signing however I believe Stan would say otherwise.

Mullen: Davis mk 2. Didn’t think I’d ever see a better Burnley defender than him….
Heath: Little. Big lummox who had no right to be THAT good.
Waddle: Payton. Lethal.
Stan: Blake - absolute gem of a player.
Cotterill: McGreal. Took Davis’ crown. The daddy of all defenders.
Coyle: Fletcher. He was just a really good player.
Laws: Marney. One of my all time faves.
Howe: Ben Mee. Gave everything. Top player, top lad.
Dyche: Draw here. Heaton, because of everything about him, and the length of time he was here, but Defour remains the best player I’ve seen in our famous C&B.
Kompany: Berge

Re: Best Signing per Manager
After some thought
Mullen: Heath
Heath: Little
Waddle: Payton
Stan: Cook
Cotterill: want to say McGreal but given he led us at Wembley I'll go Caldwell, a lot to choose from
Coyle: Thompson
Laws: Marney - would have gone Cork but given he was a loan I didn't
Howe: Ings
Dyche: take your pick here, there are loads of them, but I'll go Defour, if only he could have stayed fit
Kompany: Cullen
Mullen: Heath
Heath: Little
Waddle: Payton

Re: Best Signing per Manager
So many good signings from Cotterill - room for him as new DoF for us now?
Re: Best Signing per Manager
I always thought Mullen signed him. I'll change my vote to McMinn then, he was my first ever favourite player.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 1:58 pmA few gone with this but Mullen didn't sign Davis, signed first time by Casper and second time by Stan
And I think I'll also go with Cook for Stan, he played a massive role in our turnaround when he signed with Cowan. Still amazed we loaned him (Cook) to Wigan.

Re: Best Signing per Manager
Not sure if he was better or more influential than Cook but I thought Mitchell Thomas one of Stan’s shrewdest acquisitions.
Re: Best Signing per Manager
The worst signings per manager would throw a few up..I also thought Mullen signed Davis so I'll go for Heath.
Re: Best Signing per Manager
Yes! At 35, a very underwhelming signing, but he was a rock at the back.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2024 2:44 pmNot sure if he was better or more influential than Cook but I thought Mitchell Thomas one of Stan’s shrewdest acquisitions.

Re: Best Signing per Manager
Although he only played less than half a season, I'd say Ian Wright for Stan. That signing gave the whole place a lift and was probably the difference between finishing in the play offs and going up automatically.

Howe: Trippier
Dyche: Heaton but could've been 7 or 8 others.

Re: Best Signing per Manager
One for Claret Tony perhaps ....
Harry Potts signed Alex Elder aged 17 in January 1959 from Glentoran, for £5,000 ... I'm told that his next cash signing from a Club was Frank Casper from Rotherham, for £30,000 in June 1967. Every other player was either signed from non-league or came through the youth set-up ... is this correct ?

Best signing for me without a shadow of doubt as to be Peter Noble because of ability to play in numerous positions and do a great job for the team
