Totally agree with you. I told Stan I thought Cook was his best signing and he quickly told me it was Bally. I still think I'm right, Cooky was brilliant for us.

I always thought Mullen signed him. I'll change my vote to McMinn then, he was my first ever favourite player.

And I think I'll also go with Cook for Stan, he played a massive role in our turnaround when he signed with Cowan. Still amazed we loaned him (Cook) to Wigan.

Although he only played less than half a season, I'd say Ian Wright for Stan. That signing gave the whole place a lift and was probably the difference between finishing in the play offs and going up automatically.

I thought Thomas was outstanding and could play anywhere across a back 3 or 4.

Harry Potts signed Alex Elder aged 17 in January 1959 from Glentoran, for £5,000 ... I'm told that his next cash signing from a Club was Frank Casper from Rotherham, for £30,000 in June 1967. Yes, I'd forgotten the loan but that was Casper as it was when we signed him permanently the first time.
