Guy on twitter saying he’s heard Berge to wolves is pretty much a done deal

Putting a crap link from twitter or X is still better than posters arguing if we are having a fire sale or not

It's a hell of a record he's got from that position. Never seen him play so I've no idea but I definitely itely wouldn't be taking any conclusions that he's a centre forward from those stats.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Don't know anything about him other than the stats and hud profile, which certainly suggest he's primarily a centre forward.

Players need to go, obviously. They key thing as much as who goes, is how quickly. Obviously would love to keep Berge and the likes of Odobert. But the last thing we need is a load of deals going through last minute

I think there will be a few swings and roundabouts in moving players on. Suspect some will be difficult to move on for a fair price ie Twine, Churlinov, Delcroix, Bastian, Obefemi. Then there will be the ones that clubs will chase us for I suspect ie Berge, Brownhill, Trafford, Odobert, Amdouini (probably from Europe) and even Foster

Tom Heaton has nothing to do after tonight. I wouldn't mind him back a'turf? Even if only as goalkeeper coach. Any takers?

Tell you what, the posters wanting us to re-sign a 38 yo keeper are making me happy we’re not a fan-owned club.

Not if those fans are like you, and know nothing about goalkeeper's longevity. He was good enough to play for Utd at least twice last season.
I did also say "If only as goalkeeping coach."

Apparently offered Hladky a 2 year deal, presumably to be our number 1, but he may prefer a move home to Czechia

I don't see this obsession with tracking back why not keep wide men up and use them as an outlet not the nonsense passing Ricelike across and back.

No chance he turns down a contract extension at Ipswich in the PL because he wants to continue to be a number 1 to then accept being 2nd/3rd choice at Burnley in the Championship.
He comes here it's as number 1.

Anyone know what kind of keeper Hladky is? Don't know much about him. If we are interested in him it'd give us an indication as to how we can expect to play.

From what I've read, it sounds like passing on the ground is one of his strengths - and punching the ball.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 11:07 amAnyone know what kind of keeper Hladky is? LongsideClaret (usually very reliable with his info) mentioned Hladky potentially coming in as our new number 2 keeper on a different thread (maybe the team v Luton thread) a few days ago…..Mattster wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 9:09 amApparently offered Hladky a 2 year deal, presumably to be our number 1, but he may prefer a move home to Czechia

For me it took precisely about 15 minutes to confirm to myself that Benny wasn't gonna make it.Passing Clouds wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:22 amIn my opinion the physicality, trackbackability or temperament of a modern Prem winger. We didn’t get the chance to see though which would have been nice…
Yes he was another one that didn't get a fair crack of the whip but PL fullbacks were quite happy showing him inside, where they'd been fully briefed on what he was looking to do. Armed with the knowledge, along with the technical and physical acumen to promptly bully him off the ball, then to add insult to injury they'd set off up the line with it knowing that he wouldn't follow.
Terry Knacker of Rotherham Utd will quite happily let Benny do what he wants ten times a game, your Lewis, Digne and Udogie's on the other hand are just going to laugh him off the pitch.

Which is a bit of a shame because he also said he expects Odobert to go for big money.
I know we have to sell but I was really hoping we’d keep our best players. I’d much rather we see them develop than have the money in the bank!

It'll be a shame if (when?) we loose Wilson and Sander, but it would partly because of ridiculous overspending last year.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 12:48 pmYeah looks like he called that right again.

I would like to see some action soon, both outgoing and incoming.
The new Championship season starts three weeks on Saturday ( although we have an extra two days) and it is important that Scott Parker has as long as possible with his new squad.
On the goalkeeping front, one north-eastern journalist believes Newcastle are still after James Trafford, but if they do get him they should loan him back to us for the season.

We'll earn more by gaining promotion. If selling players means we don't get promoted, we'll lose out big time overall.summitclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 12:58 pmIt'll be a shame if (when?) we loose Wilson and Sander, but it would partly because of ridiculous overspending last year.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I'm not adverse to SP taking a bit longer to look at the players. He might be privy to who we expect to leave so those who we thought might be jettisoned quickly and early might actually be being given some time to impress him.
We do need players moving on before the end of the window though.

There will be a mass, cheap exit. All on a whoosh.
One or two in as we need keepers at least.
Every year destroy and rebuy. Half a season to adjust.
Let's hope I am just a cynical pessimist! (I know I hope so!)

I think it's fair to assume you are a pessimist!
I don't see anything as grim as that.
Just developing a new approach, which doesn't just produce success overnight.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
So O'Hare is going to Sheffield instead of us, and Hladky has chosen to go to Jablonec instead of us.
Sounds like we are back in a Sean Dyche like transfer window.
