That link was mentioned on here yesterday, nothing new there, and it came from Football Insider.

Amdouni certainly is a strange player.
Personally I thought he was one of the biggest disappointments last season. Plenty of players clearly had poor seasons but at least some of them showed signs of improvement as the season progressed.

Amdouni for me got worse - some of this might have been the impact on his confidence of being benched but from what I have seen I think a lot of it is his attitude and decision making. I think he makes bad decisions in the wrong part of the pitch. He comes deep a lot looking for the ball - which is fine if you are going to drag opposition players out of position, help break lines, keep possession etc. But so many time he would come deep and either over run the ball (he does this a lot) or try a one touch flick or beat one man and then lose it trying to beat another etc etc.

He must have potential - you don’t get in a successful international team like Switzerland wiithout being good. But the recent Euros sums him up. First game looks decent. Next 2 or 3 games comes on as sub and contributes zero and he’s over running the ball, first touch is awful, running into his own team mates. He then came on against England and looked really good !!

My hope is that the new manager and coaches can get the best out of him and get him to focus on his movement and where on the pitch he can take risks and where on the pitch he can’t. He’s got 2 good feet and we have seen how well he can strike a ball so for me he needs to be running off the striker and also getting himself into the box far more where he can shoot or make chances for other players. From what I have seen for him for Burnley and for Switzerland the deeper he comes the worse he looks and I’m sceptical whether he can improve enough in those areas you need to be that kind of player.
This is bang on and exactly what I thought all last season. For someone who seems to play best in the 10 role, he is not actually that great of a technical player. His touch is awful, he overruns the ball far too much (did this in the euros several times), cannot hold the ball up at all, isn’t particularly quick or strong. I really don’t see it with him, may be proven wrong but I just don’t think he will ever suit the English game, or become a great player.

Watch his first half at Anfield, the home game against Luton or home game against West Ham.

He definitely fell off a cliff after being benched but showed some superb skill and link up play at times. Real quality, he might have the best close control of any BFC player I have ever seen.

That'll learn ya' to come on a transfer rumour thread and post a rumour with a link without trawling through every page to make sure you're the first. Brave move on a thread loaded with so many experts and ITK's on everything Burnley, nay football!

The lack of links to anyone other than who VK had already lined up, apart from the obvious signing of the goalkeeper Muric replaced, suggests it is very likely when VK left, he also took away all of our talent identification team with him.

That's possible, but equally possible in my eyes is that VK was allowed to assemble such a ridiculously sized squad by someone so infatuated with him that we now need to see a number of outgoings before anyone else is permitted to join.

Either way, I hope that Scott Parker is given even a tenth of the luxury VK was afforded and can soon select a few players of his own.

Yes, I agree. Parker may have been told you need to sell before you can buy.

Wouldn’t say it’s a case as the talent identification team have left with kompany. More a case of we have 37 players and need to massively reduce numbers before even considering bringing anyone else in

While this sounds like a good story, unfortunately it is not accurate. Lee Mooney, co-founder of MUD is still working with the club, and aside from that, the club has its own scouting department including Head of Technical Scouting George Foster-Vigors. I’d imagine there are other staff that role up to those two as well.

We've signed two fullbacks, a striker and a goalkeeper. And our squad is absolutely massive. I'm pretty happy we don't add more numbers tbh. He's got more than enough talent there.

Or perhaps it just means there's an acknowledgement that we have at the very least adequate cover in all positions and at the thick end of the wedge

8 Center Backs
6 Center Midfielders
TWELVE Attacking midfielders
Five Strikers

Of various abilities and level of favour with the new gaffer and we need to do something about that first :D

There are only really 3 positions where we could legitimately argue there is a vacancy in the squad at this stage: left back (where a reliable alternative to Pires would be prudent), centre forward (where we could do with a physical option who can pin defenders and win an arm wrestle) and right wing (where we are oddly a bit short of a direct option despite the plethora of left sided players, particularly if JBG is seen as a central option and Benson a natural impact sub).

But I'm not sure any of those are a priority. Delcroix covers left back and Vitinho is also an option. The likes of Koleosho can work from the right if we want, and JBG and Benson give us viable options. We have four centre forwards regardless, plus Amdouni who i suspect will highlight the gulf between championship and premier league by being very effective this season.

The squad is pretty complete and it needs players out before much, if anything more comes in. If I could bring in one player right away it would be that centre forward option (Kieffer Moore is the obvious name) but we've loads of time for that and it'd be better to offload Obafemi first if possible. It's also sensible for Parker to have a long look at players in pre season before making judgments.

Keiffer Moore already joined Sheff Utd so that ship has sailed.
I can’t see any players joining now until we’ve shifted quite a few.

Keifer Moore is a complete donkey one we did well to miss.We need a combatative cm in the Scott Parker mould. One I expect SP to sign next week.

People with significant interest in MUD are Lee Money and Plankton & Smallfish Ltd. The two directors of P&S are Klaas Jan Gaublomme and Vincent Kompany. Although Kompany has resigned as a director of MUD.

If you look at his midfield 3 at Bournemouth, we already have that if everyone stays in Cullen, brownhill and Berge. The difference is the depth of our squad. Bournemouth had lerma, cook, Pearson, Christie and billing

Really can’t see us making another signing until bodies are out the door

Cook would be an excellent recruit. He is a good ball winner and distributor.Last year we rolled over as our powderpuff midfield caved in.

I doubt he’s really upset us, to be honest. Pretty sure Pace will be delighted with £10m compensation and they’ll have parted on good terms. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see him loaning us young Bayern players in future or maybe coming back in and paying big money for some of the young players he loved here. Then they’ll be even bigger mates ;)

But I imagine his resignation is more linked to his desire to use MUD at Bayern and maybe they’ve forced him to resign his directorship; different organisations will hold different views on that, but ultimately he owns them anyway so it’s only a token gesture.

We can only speculate on whether or not he's upset the board, probably not as you say given the return on his investment but we know for certain that he's upset numerous players and some of his colleagues as well.

He is, heavily involved in the appointment of Parker.
That’s really interesting.

I expected he’d still be very much involved on the playing recruitment side, but I was curious as to his input on the managerial side.

Since Parker was also a candidate in the previous search it really wouldn’t shock me if MUD were actually around before Kompany, and recommended him.

Pace said in his very first interview that they were going to use a data-based approach to recruitment and MUD are a local firm specialising in this, so wouldn’t be surprising if their paths had crossed very early.

To be honest, I don’t think we know that either, that’s also speculation because none of them have spoken personally about any rifts.

Most of the players you might expect he’d fallen out with are still here and seem focussed, perhaps because he’s left but also perhaps because said rifts weren’t as bad as reported.

Even Bellamy, who I’m assuming you’re referring to in respect to colleagues, seemed to suggest he was leaving to pursue a #1 role in his interviews (that may not be true, but he didn’t confirm a fall out with Kompany).

I imagine you’re right - just saying we don’t really know. I hope they’re on good terms because if we don’t go up this year we might be desperate for some good loan favours next year!

Keifer Moore is a complete donkey one we did well to miss.We need a combatative cm in the Scott Parker mould. One I expect SP to sign next week.
Is your expectancy of us bringing in a central midfielder next week based on info or what you’d like us to do?

As for Cook, can’t see Bournemouth letting him go, Harrison Reed from Fulham may be more realistic , wage dependant .

I can assure you that Bellamy would have been out of work in May had Kompany not left.

What makes you think Parker was a candidate in n the previous search, around the time we sacked dyche we were bottom of the premier league and Parker had all be secured promotion back to the premier league with Bournemouth. I don’t for one second believe Parker was an option when we appointed Kompany

We have Cullen, Brownhill and Massengo who all qualify as combative midfielders. We don't need another and particularly not a diminutive one. We're well stocked in midfield unless and until Berge goes.

As for squad size it looks like we have chipped away at it with more to follow, what & how many of the present squad can we keep/use taking into the age & home grown rules?

"Combative" to me, needs to be fairly tall (for aerial duels), strong in the tackle, not afraid to shoot and showing pace

I wouldn't describe any of the above in quite the same manner - and that was one of our main problem areas last season

You can only name a maximum of 25 in your squad but anyone under-21 on 1st January this year doesn't need to be included. We also have to have a minimum of seven home grown players on our match day team sheet which is seven out of twenty.
