Bashir Humphreys was at the game today
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Hopefully he was impressed by what he saw.

Benson not making it off the bench in 2 consecutive games doesn’t bode well.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 8:40 pmI get the feeling that Benson will be sold before the end of the window . Anyone know why Zaroury wasn’t involved?

Maybe just me but I did think Vitinho was giving it a bit of an extra long clap and wave when he went off today, and looked a bit glum after the game walking around the fans. Instinct is he could be off.

See I would keep zaroury over bensonCatonClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:11 pmThought the same but I’m hoping it’s more to do with SP giving minutes to others for now. If it came down to it I’d prefer to see Zaroury moved on than Benson now.

Speaking after the game to a friend I was saying about Benson not being used as of yet but we both said weirdly at the same time, “but we haven’t needed him yet”, which is true. However I’m not sure he will enjoy not getting involved just because we are comfortable in games . I’m sure he’d love to be part of the action. I think Zaroury has more scope to affect games for longer phases I.e 75 mins+ rather than bensons usual 20-30mins. But I’d like both to stay

We’ve seen what Benson can do when we’re chasing a game, or needing to break down a low block.
We haven’t faced that yet, but I just can’t see Benson being happy only being utilised in that capacity.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
2 Brazilian clubs in for Vitinho, unsure of the numbers though or whether we or he wants to do a deal. Sounds like Parker has said Benson can go, not a great trainer by all accounts (although from what I’ve seen pretty good at sticking them in the top bin from the right wing).
Potential incoming winger from the prem with recent championship experience. Probably a loan with an obligation as is the case with Humphrey’s. I’ve not seen his name out there anywhere yet though so I’ll keep that one quiet for now.

Definetely, Zaroury is still an age where he should improve, and showed glimpses last season of huge potential.

Think we’d be a bit short right wing if both Vitinho & Benson go, but I guess the incoming could be right sided.
Hopefully just 1/2 big outgoings only now.
Would be a shame to break this squad up too much.

Not particularly disagreeing with you, but what informs that decision?
Because neither have figured much, so how would you know who's better?

McAtee would be nice albeit was in the championship 2 seasons ago
Sounds like Parker likes Vitinho and with his versatility he’s be a miss

For me zaroury good with both feet, 3 years younger and more flexible to play other positions. However by all accounts zaroury wasn’t great in training last season but he certainly looked close himself on MondayElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:14 pmNot particularly disagreeing with you, but what informs that decision?

Hope so. I was slipping out at that point. But I was mainly thinking it when he was taken off, seemed an extra long “goodbye clap” - but it may have just been love of course. He gets our club, no doubt.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 10:24 pmHe did the 3 fist pumps after the game, didn’t look glum at all

It’s going to be a long 2 weeks till the deadline either way, we just have to live in hope. It’s funny how a couple of games change your mind on things. Had we seen a rumour of Vitinho being sold for 8m before a ball had been kicked, most fans would of said that’s a great dealCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:24 pmHope so. Backs up my instincts on Viti’s body language.LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:00 pm2 Brazilian clubs in for Vitinho, unsure of the numbers though or whether we or he wants to do a deal. Anyway, on the loan winger, I hope that is right wing, really poor there today, very few touches and crosses. Second half improvement was all left side, I use WhoScored to look at the touch map, though I was also at the game, it corroborated what I thought.

The ones named by a few above in Bowler and Anthony look like realistic targets . Bowlers career has stalled somewhat since the Forest move and didn’t impress whilst back at Blackpool on loan either .
Anthony looks like a possibility I can’t say I know much about him

Why does the fact 2 clubs being interested in Vitinho back up his body language hahaha, the post doesn’t say we want to sell or he wants to leaveCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:29 pmBacks up my instincts on Viti’s body language.

I’d be gutted if we lost Vitinho.
He’s versatile, a proper grafter and has no shortage of skill.

Two different managers not playing Benson, maybe Kompany wasn’t the problem….. My guess is Benson doesn’t want to be here and hasn’t for a while.

If we’re going for another winger I’d much prefer we get JBL back.

He's an absolute ray of sunshine in the squad too and that shouldn't be underestimated but a chance to play for one of the big clubs in Brazil might be a huge chance for his International aspirations. I'd be sad to see him go tbh

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Of course not, but I had an instinct on the game having heard no rumour beforehand. Now I see 2 clubs want him. He may yet stay, I hope he does, but I sensed he felt a chance he won't (whose ever desire that would be). We will see.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:50 pmWhy does the fact 2 clubs being interested in Vitinho back up his body language hahaha, the post doesn’t say we want to sell or he wants to leave
Not a big deal one way or the other, there are lots of changes with any change in league or manager, and we have both.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
You are right. My mind obv went to right winger as that’s what Benson is and the fact we are a bit short on that side of truth be told. Anthony would be another left winger to add though, not sure we need that. I thought David Brooks (loan at Saints last season) who Parker had before but he’s still recovering from a dislocated shoulder I think.

They’ve both been with us for two years so seen plenty of both.ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 11:14 pmNot particularly disagreeing with you, but what informs that decision?
Because neither have figured much, so how would you know who's better?
Zaroury for me is younger, learns well and is keen and eager, added a bit of strength and bulk, two-footed, capable of starting and finishing games, higher ceiling (profit and skill) and could cover several different roles.
Has Benny ever completed 90 mins for us, how’s his attitude (seems two managers now don’t pick him), does he like a party? Is he a one trick pony albeit that trick can be bloomin special. Easy to push off the ball and injured by a strong wind. Super sub at best.
Like them both in different ways but zaroury I think offers us more, plus in VK’s first year I’ve never seen a modern winger ‘sit down’ so many defenders, vv talented.

Quite a handy player to have though.
Can play of the left, right and down the middle behind a striker. Not an amazing signing but certainly one I could see happening
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Vitinho has been in Europe all his football career practically, the only way he's going to a Brazilian club is if he wants it. They don't have the pull for players consistently playing in Europe. All his family are here, seems settled. Don't think there is anything in it personally

Jeremy Sarmiento?
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Thought of him too. Another predominantly left sided player though. Brooks is the only natural right sided winger I can think of that fits the bill. Unless Parker sees Koleosho heading to that side.

Villa just paid £14m for him and he came off the bench yesterday, no chance imo.
