The plan was for him to stay at Ipswich if they didn’t go upkentonclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:36 amInteresting that Ipswich didn’t extend or renew any interest in a longer deal if he was an ever present for them last season.

He probably won't, but he went on loan to Besiktas in January and I'd be amazed if they footed the rumoured 50k a week wage. There are ways around this. Forest could give him a pay off or could do a subsidised loan with permanent contingent on promotion.

United using Hannibal as a makeweight in Berge deal.

O'Shea is going to be a top CB, and is worth far more than that. I'd be sorry to see him go. I'd be angry to see him go at that price.

Humphreys - loan with obligation
Hannibal - perm of loan with obligation
Sarmiento - loan with obligation
Worrall - perm if O’Shea leaves

I posted a few days ago that selling O’Shea was bonkers and even more so now given the paltry amount that we are reportedly receiving after sell on fees etc.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:43 am********

At the conclusion of Mission To Burnley 2 Kompany told Pace that O’Shea was one of a key core of players needed for a successful Championship campaign.

Hopefully.
Ripping up the championship seems unlikely though based on what he’s done so far.
He did look lively against us I agree but he was also a red card waiting to happen….and seems to be every other time I have seen him play.

'Who's our 5 guys?" - Dave Checketts to Alan Pace/the board when expressing his concerns with the model... Well, who are they? Who's going to be our spine and here for more than 2 years?

Apologies if you were referring to Al Dakhil, I took it as O'Shea.
Al Dakhil showed some great potential, and handled rightly could have been a star for us. Kompanys handling of him last season almost broke him, I wouldn't be surprised if he can't wait to get away from the club, and because of that 10mill would be brilliant. But someone could be getting a star. For his sake I hope so.

Well three of those 4 will count as homegrown. Not sure about Sarmiento as he was with Charlton from aged 7-16 and then Benfica from 16-19 and back in UK from aged 19

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
from an accounting perspective it will be booked as DoS current book value (take a year of amortisation off the purchase price) plus the sell on fee (calculated from the original purchase price) that is taken from the selling price that will be called profit.
In all these deals it has to be remembered that we have to pay all outstanding payments and the sell on immediately on sale conclusion for players we purchased from British teams.
for players purchased from international teams we are only required to maintain the original payment terms registered with FIFA and UEFA - which means we could be paying off on players over multiple years that no longer play for us - I suspect we only finished paying for Cornet this summer as an example.
so what we are seeing is not much actual short term cash generation in deals for Berge and DoS - such deals are usually paid over multiple instalments. Recognition of this has seen some suggest that the club will opt to factor these deals like we did with Wood, Collins and Pope. I am not so sure, given the relationship with MGG, which has already seen the factored TV deal end early via what appears to be a second loan from them to the club (registered in Luxembourg as MGG Lux Sv 2 Claret Compartment Sarl https://www.datocapital.lu/companies/Mg ... -Sarl.html), so it could pay off the agreement with Macquarie early.
We should not forget that MGG are on record as stating that they only get involved in deals where they are the only lender
I am assuming that MGG are driving these sales, not necessarily to see an enforced repayment by the close of the transfer window (which remains a significant possibility), but to be assured one way or another that the club has guaranteed cash flows to meet it's obligations to them.

Made just the 1 start, 5 substitute appearances and Sevilla chose not to take up an option to buy at the end of the loan. Quite possible given the fact that United have also had very few suitors for his signature.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Tue Aug 20, 2024 12:12 pmWeren't there discipline and application problems with Hannibal at Sevilla?

Absolutely corrcect. My mistake. He's been around that long and been linked with us so many times under Dyche, I thought he was older.
The rest of what I said was true, though.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Hopefully but hard to tell given does not sound like he’s played much.
Not saying he won’t be good but we are looking at a very different type of player to Berge in terms of experience and proven quality.
The fact he has come from United means very little these days. Tbh the way SAF used to operate and some of the duds we and other teams have signed from United in the past if anything it adds an unjustified premium to the price.

I seem to remember quite a few complaining last season that we were too nice and not willing to get in the faces of the opposition and now people are concerned about Hannibal's disciplinary record..... Can't win.
He could turn out to be a total s*** house player, but he will be our s*** house if the deal happens.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Asking for what exactly ?
Letting a load of greedy yanks put the club in more debt than we have ever had in our history ?
Or spending £200m on building an over bloated squad that managed to scrape 24 points in one of the worst seasons to watch as a supporter in our history
Or is it buying 30 or 40 new players most of us have never heard of and would struggle to still remember half their names now ?
Or is it seeing players play for the team for half a season before we sell them to help repay the debt ?
Which ones of the above have we all been asking for ?

Saw Beyer at the weekend - had a photo taken with my son after he'd struggled to get out of his car! Asked him how long he would be - "a few weeks" was the reply.

I think the only thing that stood out about Hannibal is his big Afro hair style and his willingness to stick a foot in. Haven’t seen much in terms of actual ability.

I find it quite humorous that 99.9% of people in here were saying not so long ago that we would struggle to off-load players or that we would lose money on them and now they are saying 25m is not enough and that we should be holding out for 30m lol!...
I was one of the 0.1% who predicted we would sell about 120m to 130m worth of talent and I won't be far wrong... Interestingly, the same people were also saying the same thing after the relegation just before VK became manager and they were wrong then too!

I’d like to see us go and reinvest some of this money on a couple of standout young players at this level.
The likes of:
Sunderland - Paterson, Clarke, Rigg, Neil
Norwich - Rowe
Coventry - Sheaf
Plymouth - Whittaker
WBA - Fellows
Just a few that spring to mind. I suspect we’ll bank £100m and spend peanuts on lesser replacements though.
