Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Some right fannies on this thread isn’t there…
99.9% of all football clubs in the world sell their players if asset valuations are met..
We’ve been like this all of our existence, it’s just in the past 40 years we haven’t had many players that other teams wanted!!

To be fair there seems to be a lot on here who haven't yet grasped the economic realities of the grown up world; they'll soon learn when dad stops handing out their pocket money and they have to buy their own pants and shoesClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 3:18 pmWhen money is needed to keep something in business everything becomes about money.

You must struggle with comprehension. I said 'feels like it'. Also, you mention debts. I wonder why that is? We all know why. We are simply a financial engineering vehicle.Big Vinny K wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 3:15 pmAnd then do what ?
I’m no fan of the owners for sure but you think that they are prepared to sell every player and end up with no players ? So effectively drop out of all the leagues and end up with no club ?

Stiil not really sure how it can “feel like” we would sell every player and be left with no playing staff when we are buying players….but if that’s how you feel hey ho

I think the reaction on here at times is priceless.
The squad depth needs reducing. Most sensible fans will see that the time to make judgement will be when the window closes.
We have had a brilliant start to the season so far, but with the reaction on here, you think we hadn't.

Massively bloated squad, which we all knew needed trimming. We’re doing that, getting some good fees and loans for our players. The key is balance and knowing when to stop. We cannot risk our chances of being promoted.
I think we also need a few additions in key areas. To refresh and energise the squad.
We’ve just got to sit tight and try to enjoy the ride.

It's just always just about replacements it's about creating team morale and having a connection with the fans, players that put a shift in for the shirt.
I think it's vital we keep Brownhill

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I'd like Brownhill stay ideally , he's an integral part of the team but with him being a free agent in the summer and if he's not likely to sign a new contract , I'd not blame the club for selling him if we can bring in a suitable replacement.

The squad is “bloated”, but we’ve gone about trimming it in very lobsided way so far. We now look short in a few positions.

I think ‘so far’ is doing a lot of the work here. It seems 3 centre backs leaving next week at a minimum and we’ll be signing a midfielder & wide attackers.agreenwood wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 5:19 pmThe squad is “bloated”, but we’ve gone about trimming it in very lobsided way so far. It’s gone very quiet on the incomings front given how convinced some were on here a few days ago of signing Hannibal, Sarmiento and Johnston.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think we’ve got the most talented defence and defensive depth in the division.
Have we got the best central midfield without Berge? How much depth do we have there?
Have we got the best wide men in the division? With Tresor absent/coming back from ill health, Agyei yet to kick a ball for us and coming back from a long term knee injury and Redmond out for the foreseeable future, how much depth do we have there?
Is Foster the best striker in the division? Is 35 yo Rodriguez and an as yet unproven Hountdonji sufficient depth?
I’d say the sales of the last 7 days have left some serious questions that didn’t exist last week.

Bit concerned about right wing, only Vitinho and Benson can naturally play there and Benson has been linked away.

Things going quiet doesn't mean a lot. The club like keeping their cards close the their chest. Some of these incoming might depend on certain departures, who knows.

The business has left holes but we’re clearly in the market for two wingers and a central midfielder. If Amdouni is sold (which I’d be pretty furious at considering the revenue brought in, it’s needless) you’d assume we will sign a striker too.

I can only comment on the current situation. It’s not a given that things will perfectly align over the next 7 days.
We’ve signed players to replace ones who haven’t yet left and not replaced any of the players who have left this past week.

Basically all these posts about brownhill are based on one post that was from a palace fan saying he had heard they were in for brownhill? about the same basis that the rumours about Esteve were based on. Don’t know about the spine of the team being ripped out as it sounds like it has from a section of the fans on here.
