Firstly I don't see this current, and hopefully temporary, mess as VK's fault. He operated under the policy that the board wanted.
If you look at it this way, the Board's only policy is to buy players and later sell them at a profit. That's how they will make their money and benefit from managing our club. Promotion to the Premier League can be looked at not as an achievement in the way we fans see it (playing at as high a level as possible, winning trophies etc.) but simply as a method of getting more money to invest. Relegation was a pity because staying up would get us more money to invest but it's not vital in their scheme. If we had stayed up we would still sell and invest again anyway. What's happening now is that last season's investments are paying dividends, exactly as planned. The policy is working.
If it doesn't work on the pitch that either doesn't matter to the board or they expect that any manager (Parker at the moment) can do what VK did and take a bunch of many unknowns and mould them into a successful team. I don't know if Parker has any history of doing this but I don't think he has.
I'd also like to point out that we have more points now then we did after three games in The Championship last time!
So now our pleasure in football is not from seeing us winning, trophies etc. but to enjoy the progress of new players as they develop and get sold for vast sums. It's just a new way of looking at things.
