No these are 3 hg players which is quite a healthy addition.
That's a definite positive.

On Hannibal - clearly a talented player, we saw it when we played Brum away in 22-23 and when United played us at the Turf last season.

Reports I've heard from friends that are United fans is that he's a top professional but bordering on the line of being robotic i.e. takes himself exceptionally seriously and can find it hard to fit in with a squad and the camaraderie.

Fully committed on the pitch (which our manager certainly was) but a bit reckless at times.

With the similarity in style and position, hopefully Parker is a good manager for him and can get the most out of him.

Not sure if posted elsewhere but The Guardian reporting that Newcastle are back in for Trafford. Loan with obligation to buy.

Mattster…… what part of …. Zaroury dident want to play for Burnley do you not understand.
Says who?

But even if that's the case, it wouldn't make overpaying for a worse player good business, would it?

Saw that but Chronicle’s main reporter then suggested they aren’t in talks for him.

You don't know that to be the case, if he signs, let's see what he brings to the team before making a direct comparison. That's all any of us can do.

I remember having a discussion two years ago regarding Tella, a few were saying he was a waste of time because he'd barely played for Southampton in the previous couple of seasons and didn't have great stats. Imagine if we'd had a £10 Million option on him.

I read a few online interviews with Hannibal when we were linked with him last week and he referenced not getting the respect he felt he was due at some of the clubs he played for.
Ties in somewhat with what you have posted. Hopefully he has a good career with us and all is good.

Jaidon Anthony 34 games 1 goal zero assists for Leeds in the Championship. Doesn’t inspire too much confidence but hopefully the best is yet to come. At least the window is open a while longer yet.
Sometimes stats don't tell the whole story and don't necessarily predict future success:

Nathan Tella prior to coming to us:
20-21: 18 league apps, 1 goal
21-22: 14 league apps, 0 goals
22-23: 3 league apps, 1 goal

neither of their reserve keepers travelled to Bourneouth, all the Newcastle fans seem to think they are both being sold - Dubravka and the Greek lad who was clearly a PSR stunt

There’s a lot of revisionism going on.

Zaroury has shown next to nothing since the World Cup either here or for Hull where he was on loan. Yet people are saying it’s bad business selling him for €9m and signing his replacement who is proven at this level for £10m.

I get the feeling that some people will never be happy.

Zaroury in the Championship
34 games 7 goals 5 assists
Jaidon Anthony in the Championship
34 games 1 goal Zero assists

How on earth is Anthony being viewed as an upgrade on Zaroury and using what metric?
Playing for different teams under different managers with different philosophies and formations and with different players around them.

What did you know about Zaroury when he first signed for us. Did you think he was an upgrade on Dwight McNeil or not?

I shall be upset if Brownhill or Koleosho goes, and depressed but resigned to it if Amdouni goes. Reality though is today’s possible signings are all good ones. Hell fire, whinging about £10m IF we go up - I’d snatch your hand off for that possibility right now.

The one position that still worries me is up front. We need a 20 goal a season man and I worry we won’t have one come Saturday. We used to buy crackers at this level (Ings, Grey, Vokes etc) and I sense we will need one more this time too, to supplement Foster and co.

Trafford and Newcastle
Newcastle’s have a preference for a loan deal with a purchase obligation is a strategic move aimed at balancing their financial commitments while complying with PSR requirements.

My hope is that he's a replacement for Zaroury, and not a replacement for Koleosho/Odobert. 2 very different conversations.

"A lot of revisionism going on"

Goes on to call Anthony "proven at this level" when he has roughly the same number of minutes at the level as Zaroury. With Zaroury "showing next to nothing" by scoring more goals in his 12 appearances for Hull than Anthony did in his 30 odd for Leeds last season...

A Blues supporting friend said Hannibal did well there. We're not asking him to play in the PL or La Liga.
Did well in a poor Birmingham side scoring 1 goal in 38apps
On loan at Sevilla last season and made 6 apps - they had an option to buy but didn't bother
As for not asking him to play in the PL, isn't that what we are hoping for next season
So, if Brownhill goes, we would have Cullen, Hannibal and Massengo plus Ramsey injured
What was that phrase - "we need men"

I thought I read end of of last week, that Parker said Tresor will be returning to training next week, which may mean this week now, if that’s correct I am sure the club will factoring him into the finalSquad numbers.
Might be getting another medical, too.

I like Koleosho, and want him to stay, just to be clear.

But what we don’t know with players is which will turn out to be sick-notes. There has to be a risk given his injury last season and talk of niggles already this (even before last Saturday’s omission). It’s one more thing they have to feed into the supercomputer.

One more thing about the incomings - very young and much improvement potential, old stats only go so far.

Is Leeds the only club JA has played for? He was basically used as a back up for the prolific Summerville.

JA at 20 years old scored 10 goals in 83 appearances at Bournemouth, despite not starting a game until 2021.

What boils my p1ss is the thought of VK getting improvement money on the sale of players he brought in. Remembering the antics of Harry Redknapp, George Graham & Brian Clough it grates.
I thought that was pretty standard for managers these days a portion of player sales money. Didn't Steve Cotterill have such a clause in his contract?

We wouldn’t get anywhere near his wages, that’s before his injury record.

A loan with subsidised wages I’d look at.

I thought that was pretty standard for managers these days a portion of player sales money. Didn't Steve Cotterill have such a clause in his contract?
That would surely get written out in any deal struck to allow him to leave? We could insist on anything. None of us will ever know.

MUD may get a bonus, I can see that, and VK presumably still has a stake even if not a director any more.

You’re guessing. You don’t know.
Hence “I think”

Jaidon Anthony 34 games 1 goal zero assists for Leeds in the Championship. Doesn’t inspire too much confidence but hopefully the best is yet to come. At least the window is open a while longer yet.
Was that 34 starts? Or 20 odd 10minutes subbing to see the game out.

100% if the wages were right, he'd score more than Foster at this level
Not sat in the medical room he wouldn't

JA at 20 years old scored 10 goals in 83 appearances at Bournemouth, despite not starting a game until 2021.
Well I'm now convinced.

Jaidon Anthony was 21 when he made his Bournemouth debut. So if he scored 10 goals before he even played a game that's something very, very special.

Again, do you know for a fact that it is £10 Million and if it is how it is structured? Does it include add ons, like staying in the Premier League etc?
That's what's being reported. Already said (multiple times) if it's £5m then I'd be fine with it. Happy, even.

So he's ok as a player, it's just that we've possibly paid too much?
