selling assets with our supposed levels of debt wont make them any money should they want to sell the club, possibly be worth more with the bloated squad than withoutalwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 2:45 pmQuite correct, but the deeper issue is that the players 2nd and 3rd in line to those 4, have also left the club, or want out, in which case SP doesn't favour working with them. We're absolutely screwed, potentially don't see us being able to field a team come Saturday, it's kinda like there's a life threatening disease hit the club.
There surely can only be 1 explanation, ALK have to be cashing out, the only thing I don't understand is the Humphries deal.

I know people keep saying Parker cannot afford to quit as it would damage his CV and future prospects. But when you consider how hard he has probably worked to get to know the players and coaches and install his approach and culture, then this mass exodus may just be too much for him.Unless there is something I don't know. I fear for the Board at the home match on Sunday

Pace bares a lot of this weight on his shoulders allowing Kompany to almost being in an infinite amount of players that weren't required, but let's not exclude the players from any criticism here..I haven't seen too many of them being "forced out", and I've not heard too many saying they want to stay and help us get back up..
If the rumours are true and they have had a relegation pay cut, their weekly wage will be at the forefront of many of their desires to move rather than for footballng reasons.
Good riddance to them I say, yes it's been a horrendous 2 weeks, but as hard as it is I'm prepared to wait and see who we've got in the building on Friday night before being totally dejected with it all.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Exactly this. The way it was put to me is that numerous players have acted like spoilt little children demanding a move. It hasn't been pleasant for anyone within the squad/club to witness and deal with.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 2:30 pmI don’t particularly like the ownership but even I can see that there has to be something else going on here, the owners in no way are just thinking let’s sell everyone who makes us a profit.
I have a friend who’s family member works at the training ground (I won’t say their role) but they have said the amount of players who have been pushing for moves is like nothing he’s ever seen before
Why would the owners sell everyone knowing they need replacing

I’m not one for hyperbole but this feels correct. A big “sliding doors” week. What is vital is not allowing the fans to turn (something ALK will never have experienced). But…….they may still manage to turn the ship around, with Parker’s help and the transfer team.

Who was actually in this key core of players that we were supposedly going to build a team around and are any of them still at the club (for now at least)?

Rubbish. He has a great first touch, a trick or two to beat his first challenge and then nothing. Bang average. I don’t blame any of the players for Saturdays performance, after the week they’d endured, but he was as poor as all the rest.

Muric, Amdouni, OShea, Odobert, Tresor(whether you like him or not), Berge.
Koleosho, Trafford and Weghorst likely to follow.
Then add in Twine, Zaroury, AAD etc.
It's just too much and too quickly. Parker is going to have a nightmare on his hands trying to clear up this absolute mess and trying to get a cohesive, functioning squad again. The board have made an absolute shambles of this.
Estève is still here. Both Josh C and B are here. Foster is still here. Beyer and Ekdal will be fine in this league when they return.
Weghorst will be gone as will Benson because they don't want to stay.
We desperately need to keep Koleosho.

Any negativity, pre-kick off, on Saturday just plays into Basturds hands. The whole ground has to get behind the X1 wearing Claret.

That incomings figure is hugely distorted by completing signings from last season.Commy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 2:33 pmhttps://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-burn ... on_id/2024
Transfer ins and outs showing 47.93 Eruo profit, without Al-Dakhil. It will cost more to replace them like for like.
We've spent bugger all this season. Hountondji is the biggest signing, which says everything!

I’m glad we are shipping out players who have no interest in playing for the club. You’d think out of a purely professional point one or two of them would want to try and make amends for the drivel they served us up last season.

You need to remember these young lads were being paid peanuts on their contracts compared to most premier league players. They've had a taste of top level, and clearly want to get paid better

It's a lot simpler than you are suggesting and if it isn't, it's because of other factors at play.
For the 100th time, he was quite happy to come on against Cardiff and Sunderland, and to be fair to him, put a real shift in.

I suppose one thing that is crystallising from this is an understanding of why last seasons team showed such a lack of fight, passion and desire to stay up. Why their heads buckled the second they went a goal behind and why they generally looked, to a man, like they didn’t give much of a **** whether Burnley got relegated or not.
They knew they’d be leaving anyway.

I think some people still don't understand the difference between wanting to play at higher level and refusing to play for Burnley. Probably every player we have (excluding veterans like Rodriguez) most likely want to play for better club, in better division and for more money.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 2:56 pmI’m glad we are shipping out players who have no interest in playing for the club. He's been in football a long time
He knew the size of the squad, and would know it had to be trimmed considerably
He would also know that upon relegation your better players will want to leave
I haven't seen anything that would have come as a surprise to him
The problem will be if he isn't allowed to replace some of those sold, and as yet there is no evidence that he's being denied that

This is the only sale that sort of makes sense due to his contract - but it needs to be for decent money and we have to get Billing in to replace. Apparently we had a squad of 37 as the window opened, think we're now looking at around 16 out's, that's 21 left in my book approx, if you consider their's still 2 or 3 other's don't want to be here, and add on the long term injuries may be he row x should do he's maths.BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 27, 2024 2:58 pmHey Mr joined this board July 15 2024

It's called a "relegation clause"
Name one player we have sold this summer that was triggered by an amount set in a relegation release clause?

We still haven’t actually signed anyone yet and, at this rate, I don’t think we will. This unprecedented saga will go down in history as a comparable event to the sinking of the Titanic. It’s bye bye Burnley.

Parker must be f*cked off.
He just gave Brownhill the armband like - not having that this level of turnover was ever part of 'the plan'. It's unprecedented!

Who said anything about an set amount?
A lot of these players will have clauses such as "if we get relegated, my agent has the ability to talk on my behalf to that club" or words to that affect.
That's how we will entice them here in the first place, making it attractive to leave and not be hunkered in on a 5 year deal.
